Are the reveals lacklustre this time around?

Yes, you're right, stage interactables were in MK before, how well did those games do? Aren't most fans trying to forget those 3d games ever existed? MK9 plays like a traditional fighter, that's why a lot us like it. Ask any MK9 players what they don't like about Injustice? They'll answer you the stage interactables and the absence of dash cancelling. NRS isn't trying to copy Injustice, they added those things, cause they believed the casual players would like them. Unlike Capcom, they don't want their new games to play like their previous ones, but innovation is not always the right choice, new does not equal good.

Lol Interactable objects were not the reason why the 3D games sucked so bad. Removing that function due to an overall poorly made game is extremely unfair and ridiculous. And going by the stages we've seen so far, the interactables in MKX are no where near as obnoxious as Injustice.

Well, news flash to those people: you don't have to use interactables. Its not even like they impact the game a lot. If they want to play seriously, they can play in an arena without interactables like a training room.

People said that in Injustice.
And people who don't use interactables in Injustice are dumbasses.

Why would you give up an advantage like that?

I'm saying this because for MK9, for each character revealed, there was a hi-res render released, gameplay trailer, story trailer, fatality trailer, etc.

Your thoughts?
We had gameplay+fatality trailer for Raiden, i think this will be the way they reveal most of the characters going forward, at least i hope so. As for story/bios - i don't want to see them, maybe couple of clues here and there that can make people debate more, but not major spoilers. I will like to see some development footage process for the newcomers - why they look like this, what the idea was behind each of them, what designs NRS choose from, who they personally like more, what they think fan's opinion will be about these newcomers - this kind of things, not story spoilers.

This may be biased because I could really care less for gameplay mechanics, but today's Mortal Monday reinforces my initial post and why I created this thread.

Still wouldn't faze me in the slightest. Either they really have some good shit that they don't wanna spoil for the story, or they really don't give a shit this time around.

Either way, both options make me anxious as hell.

your a total moron for thinking like that

let me rephrase what i said in my first comment. i obviously wasn't clear enough, thats my bad.

when i said most were just color swaps, i was obviously talking about the ninjas and cyborgs. im well aware of the fact that characters like goro and motaro are not color swaps of each other. and when i said his job was a little easier i wasn't just referring to the fact that some characters are color swaps. i also meant that it was the beginning of the series...he made what would determine if a character felt "mortal kombat" or not. so when it comes to new characters we should cut some slack.

and i mean no disrespect to tobias at all whatsoever...i look up to the dude. he made some of the characters that would make my childhood.

oh and id chill on the name calling. you come off as unintelligent

Yeah, I really don't blame them for focusing on that considering the current climate of gaming. I'm just hoping the story also lives up to the buzz and hype.

It probably will. They're taking a lot of small things into consideration. Like making everybody wear practical costumes. Scorpion looks great without his solid gold armor

when i use scorpion on MK9, his swords ALWAYS glitch up when i win a round. like when he pulls out his sword to swing it around, he pulls out the wrong one, causing it to look all glitched out.

is that just me? or does it happen to everybody else too? was it really THAT hard to fix?

Probably.
I, on the other hand, DO want to get good with MK X and elevate myself to a higher level of fighting online, so gameplay mechanics, variations and match-ups DO interest me GREATLY.

I think the game you're looking for is Armaggedon. Deadly Alliance and Deception weren't terrible. What I see with a lot of fans nowadays, is that they'll want or praise something, (Fun krypt, great story) but then when they get in depth about it they trash those games. Makes no sense.

Wow, I've noticed that a lot. It's true, though lol

Hmmm......

Well, MK4 sold a total of 2.19 million units, across N64 and PS1.

So, I'd say pretty well, really.

MK4 sold well because it was the first 3d game of the series, not because it was a great game, it was decent. Why do you think NRS and WB don't bother bringing this game or any of the 3d ones over to PSN and XBL? Deadly Alliance is the only one that's enjoyable. Deception was terrible, I didn't care about the story, it's a fighting game, I should judge it by its gameplay. The 3d games were mainly responsible of the dark era of the franchise, that was when MK wasn't relevant.

Not to mention there are constantly tournaments for MK1-MKT, nobody cares about the 3d games.
