Migraine Remedies

Hello there.

This thread is mainly to help not just me, but for anyone that also suffers frequent migraines and would like to put an end to them.

I suffer from a lot of migraines, especially when the weather changes. Mostly, when the barometric meter changes, I'm stuck doing nothing because my head hurts so much I can't even move. I do know how to prevent most of the triggers that causes my migraines, but for some reason, when the weather acts up, there's literally nothing I can do. I thought, hey maybe someone from here suffers the same thing and KNOWS how to prevent them, I'll try asking.

Also, to let you in on a little something about wee little me, I do have an under developed sinus on the right side of my head, but I've been told by various sinus doctors that it's not a problem to take seriously. I also have a medical condition in which migraines trigger majority of it... I pass out a lot, it's called Syncope.

So, how do we treat them? Before they stopped working on me, I would take Excedrin, two of them. I'd eat chocolate or drink a can of pop for that caffeine intake, or if nothing is working... try sleeping and screaming it off. But I certainly know, the last two is a pain to go through, I really wouldn't recommend it unless NOTHING is working for you and there's nothing else you can do.

If anyone has any other remedies to get rid of migraines, feel free to post. I'm sure we've all dealt with them, sadly... It's just an annoying pain... just like tooth pain.

Please AVOID the caffeine (including tea, chocolate, and soda)!!!!! They can cause headaches as far as I know. Also talk to your PRIMARY physician. I think you should also try taking pain relievers but double check on that with your doctor. Oh and one more thing, you can look up search engines such as Google for ideas but don't completely rely on them. Mostly listen to your doctors and nurses.

Caffeine does cause headaches when you don't drink it for a while, known as caffeine withdrawal that I sadly suffer from when I'm trying to give up caffeine for a while because I have an addiction to it. There's noting wrong with eating a little bit of it to get some caffeine inside of you. I mean, that's what Execrins are, they have caffeine in them.

Well, you do have a point. But yeah, do take care of yourself and talk to you doctors when needed.

I'm not sure if this is similar to your case, but I tend to get pretty bad headaches from high blood pressure. Usually I try and sleep it off or exercise, to sweat it out, if its really bad. I also use tylenol (some times it works, mostly it doesn't though), as I read only certain types of pain killers actually work on those types of headaches. I would have though ibuprofen would be good, as it's supposed to reduce swelling and inflammation.
