My opinion of Saibot and online gameplay

Noob Saiibot

Hello everyone. I`ve been researching this game for about 2 weeks before deciding it was worth my 20 dollars and picked it up about 3 days ago. The gameplay even online seems solid. However ive been noticing something. Maining Noob, I tend to roflstomp everyone or almost. What I`ve noticed is that his shadow tackle works like this.
If it hits you, you are pushed back and knocked down. However by the time the enemy gets up, the second is already right there. Now you DO have time to block, but if you don`t block, anything else results in damage. However, this is not the problem as many newcomers will resort to blocking for almost anything. The problem is that the second clone pushes you back as well, which may not sound like a problem in and of itself but I will give you this here scenario.
Johnny Cage is fighting Noob, and he has been working hard to jump over Noob`s unholy projectiles. Just then as he is about to close the gap, he mistimes a jump and is nailed by 2 shadows, the second of which has been blocked but has pushed him ALMOST BACK TO FULL SCREEN. Scenario B.
Johny has timed all of his jumps correctly and has closed the gap, but is knocked back by a shadow upknee and then a tackle, placing him AT FULL SCREEN.

Now I`m not whining here. I main Saibot. But most of my matches end at full screen by flawless victory. So, any thoughts on how to close in besides dash cancel? (you can get hit out of that if you`re unlucky.) Discuss.

Characters with GOOD teleports can get in on him, Mileena (My main) has a nice teleport that causes stagger on hit but I can't just recklessly throw it out, I can only Teleport if I read the clone and because of my good read I get free pressure or go for the 50/50 B+3 into Ex Roll high/low mix-up.

Certain characters have specials that have Armor and can break through Saibot's projectile, but if you're not confident in your reads you can always dash cancel in, and guess High or low shadow clone.

Dash block and baiting your specials are the only way for someone without a teleport.

Johnny Cage player sucked because at any point he could have Ex Shadow Kicked through your shadows and began his pressure.

Both of you are suggesting things I have seen fail. Dash blocking isnt complete invulnerability, Ex shadow kick isnt full screen and leaves you vulnerable to afterwords to double tackle, and LOL at someone jumping in on Noob. This thread is indeed for the characters with no teleport, however i will generally counter with my own teleport.

Edit: Yes i could see armor being a possible solution. So far ranged stuns armor and teleports are mostly the prime solution, but remember we are regarding new players.

Double edit: Im pretty sure its futile to bait noobs projectiles full screen.

Are you on Xbox or PS3? For the love of God, please tell me you're on Xbox..

Edit:

If you read my post, you would've seen the word READ.

We know that if you just YOLO shadow kick you're open for punishment, but if you stay within the range for it to hit, and read the Saibot's patterns you can get in on him without having to guess High/low if you choose to dash block.

My sincerest apologies. I play on ps3, but seeing as I created a thread to help new players and instead im met with elitism and veiled insults.

Edit: For it to be punishable you need to be at close range. If we were at close range this thread would be obsolete.

Just because you've seen it fail doesn't mean it doesn't work.

Dash block in Noob's face. Bait the upknee for projectile/fast normal punish. Bait the Tackle for jump in punish. Blocked teleport eats a NJP combo.

Baiting projectile from full screen is futile unless you have a fast teleport. Sektor's instant air teleport has almost no start up and leads to 30% damage. It's easy to make you afraid to toss a shadow with him.

Dude, I didn't insult you at all..

You're the one who's contesting my knowledge of the game, when I have a year worth of experience compared to your 3 days of "Research".

Vital, ive been playing fighters for 2 years now. Please try to be mature. You say you did not insult me but then go on to call me a noob/scrub.

backback, i agree with your first line. I think thats what i should be taking from this.

So have I, I'm talking experience MK-wise, Not overall, and please show me where I called you a scrub in one of my posts.

Mmm. Thank you. i misread hostility, however to show you what I mean i give you an example (not regarding you at all, please take no offense)

If I say "you`re not so bright" OR "you`re an idiot" it is more or less identical.

EDIT: Back on topic folks!

It's all good, bro and I understand.

I'm not the type of person to start trouble, but if I come off as an asshole in any of my posts please tell me so I can apologize.

On topic:

I think people over rate Noob's zoning.

Yea, he has full screen 50/50s and he has a teleport to keep your jumping in check, but most of the cast has ways around his Keep away. (Except Kano, He's to ass to get around anything..) I think his Projectiles work better in block strings, but they're only good in the corner where he can actually deal damage.

You are a Noob, just look at your username, duh.

Johnny Cage was one of my three mains, and I never really had trouble with Noob. All it takes is a lot of patience. Dash blocking is way more effective than you think because Noob doesn't fire the shadows fast enough to mess you up. A character is always going to take a little chip from zoning, but if a Johnny pressures you right, you're done.

I guarantee if you faced DCP, you'd be thinking differently.

Im a fairly new player. Facing a global tournament level JC defeats the point lol.

I DO also agree with dash blocking its currently the most effective way, but theres always that chance to get hit. as well as his upknee pushing you back at point blank if you get in.

EDIT: Goodnight all, I will be on to post some tomorrow :P continue discussing.

There's nothing wrong with taking a hit and being knocked full screen, that only shows that you were either showing too much respect to the shadows or you didn't take a risk to make a gutsy read with an armored move or teleport in and there's no magical solution to getting in without taking damage, it's all trial and error.

All of my mains have tele so it seems I'm am of no use here but I will say this - My tele can be baited and conditioned so I don't yolo tele against somone who knows what they are doing. Noob is not as strong as you may think - your shadow spam can be beat with block-- the problem is guessing tackle vs slide vs tele vs super. Sloppy players button mash the wake up and accidentaly tech roll and get hit, others jump in and get messed up worse - these are player mistakes, the character itself has tools to beat your zoning - they're just not being played right. They only way to win is wiff, bait, and condition (notice I said nothing about combo) chip your way to the top.

IMO Noob is a very strong character, I see potential in his resets, strings, amazing zoning etc. I think he`s just a solid choice allround and I`d list him among upper tier characters.
