Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I guess having an awareness of something and supporting it are two very different things. My goal is for Eyeballistic to be what Midway was of the 90's. I think we have enough talent to put together our own masterpiece of a video game that is completely unrelated to Mortal Kombat. I'd really like for our team to be recognized as the guys who did that amazing work on Mortal Kombat HD Remix. The hard work we are doing now, I want it to be worth something later. If I could I'd easily quit my full-time job and just do this for the rest of my life. I know Bleed and most everyone else on the team feels the same way as long as the money was flowing in.

I'm not sure that asking for donations to further the artists who post here's skills is illegal.

Moving to a different website and charging people to become a member of the site is probably okay as well.

I don't think your arguing at all. I think your "playing with fire" but I would do the same thing if I were in
you shoes man. I think its a risky gamble, that probably will backfire though.

Seeing as Injustice just came out, I think trying to get NRS to comment on it now is bad timing. I would
just keep moving forward if I was you all. Also, as far as MUGEN projects go, you guys are making great
progress at a good speed.

That's just it, if we do accept donations, that could be our undoing. I wonder about kickstarter. I wonder if we can kick-start this project (which probably would call a huge amount of attention to it). If we aren't selling the game but asking for donations to build a development studio? The end game here though is if we do complete this project and release it for free, doesn't that piss NRS and WB off? I'd think it would. I'll need to contact a lawyer to find out for certain. Lets say I'm a fan of Halo. Then I get together a group of really talented people and we build Halo 2 in HD with a new middleware engine. Then we release this game with all this IP for free..can that be legal? Copying something someone else did and then giving it away for free could absolutely ruin a company I'd think, by devaluing their product.

How's this for a more viable and less backfire-prone alternative?
Finish this game, and use it as a presentation card to launch something else that actually makes money.

I think what your doing now is two separate things.
1) Continuing to make an MK MUGEN fan game.
2) Starting a studio that could make new games.

the legality of fan made things, especially mugen games has always been iffy.
If its distributed freely like fan art, fan fiction, fan movies, etc. and the
owners don't C&D then its really not a big deal. But you cant sell it, making
a profit off of copywritten material without permission is illegal. Trying to get
NRS to comment on this project is bad timing right now. They are busy
promoting Injustice, and selling DLC.

In the past I got John Tobias and John Vogel to comment on the games progress over
twitter. I tried really, really hard with Ed Boon but he never commented. I doubt he would.
I could get you guys an Interview with JamessMK on the OBS (Wait their banned on twitch LOLOLO)
They have a great little stream that could get your message out into the twittersphere. In fact I think they
showed a MK1HDR vid on a recent episode. I think that would be a great start for you.

TRMK and MKMP are both affiliates of the show.

I think to kickstart a dev studio, you should make your own new/original game.

P.S> As far as devaluing the original IP... No one ever stopped Indrid Cold from releasing MK Anthology

here we go again, here are some changes, thanks uker, fixed a little the lighting so it matches the sprites but still looking more realistic, cause I don't really think we should match the same sking tone from the sprites

congratulations liu kang looks much better!

I think the reason this game has been safe so far is because its been a pure nonprofit fan project. It will be risky once you bring any hint of profit or business structure into the mix and use the mortal kombat name to influence the public. I dont think Warner brothers will kill this game as long as it remains a nonprofit fan project. I know its tempting to turn this into something more and take advantage of its awesomeness but that can turn ugly quick.

I have some very important news for you all:
2) WB/NetherRealm will work a deal offering their support to release our game on several platforms. In a perfect world they let us borrow one of their programmers in return for a certain percentage of any profit the game makes.

3) WB/NetherRealm buys all of our assets outright and keeps them to make the profit from the game themselves.

4) WB/NetherRealm gives us a price for how much it would cost to purchase the Mortal Kombat license. We would then raise money (Via Kickstarter) and sell the game on our own under the Eyeballistic, Inc. label.

Ideally, option 2/3/4 would be best. You guys get something in return for what has been done and it's all official either by a licensing arrangement through Eyeballistic, Inc., or completed under NRS/WB.

At worst, at least if they look away then the hard work doesn't get locked away never to be seen.

I've thought from the time I read about this being done, that if NRS was smart about it they would offer support to make it more than just another MUGEN game, and be able to publish it and make money off it. The question is why would they not?

Where things get murky is if they are in fact working on a MK HD themselves, then the chances of any of the above dwindle dramatically.

It doesn't look bad, but it's clearly not like the original, and it can easily be fixed, so I don't think it's very helpful that you encourage him not to do it.

hello guys, here are more changes that bleed, gojira, uker and other fellas commented.

1. more bended knees
2. softer shoulder rotation
3. get rid of the right hand rotation
4. and some other things I don't recall right now

but here it is

Hi guys, please excuse the delay in the updates, and that this week I have no time to work on Sonya. But we are going ahead, I made several adjustments that were suggested and lack now are minimal things, that I will adjust still.

We are going to that was corrected.

1ST the clothes of Sonya now has a better appearance of tissue, but without being different from the fabric Lycra which originally she uses. And I put other colors greens for you observe.
2ND decreases a little your hair, and I have modified their color to brown and thus become more similar with the playable character, of course we know that Sonya and blond, but when we have selected it in the game, she has the hair a little brown. I did this to test and know the opinion of you, but I can leave it blond again without problems. Sonya Tons de Verde.jpg

3RD added extra color to your clothes and have to "badge" done by our friend jhonatasbatalha.

IT IS this personal we will see in the next updates, see you soon.

@arq_hawkin That's great. I think the head, body and legs are just perfect now. Now, the motion in the left hand is not quite right. It's spending most of the time in its down position and only whipping up for a split second. It should be a more continuous motion coinciding with the right foot's motion.
Also, if it was me I would make the right hand a little more vertical, so that it's back faces the camera a little more, but I can live with it as it is.
As always, great work, man.

@Cris Berserk Great work too. The first version I think is almost it. Now the only thing that looks odd are her arms and hands. They have no muscle shapes, and look a bit like a Barbie doll's. Once that is done I think you have a winner there.

Greetings everyone, new here.
Just found out about this project recently and I was excited like a little child. I just wanted to let everybody on the team know that you are my heroes for taking up all the effort to do this, and I'm amazed of what you have put together until now. The whole style and the character models are so detailed, realistic and life-like and so freaking awesome, that it catches the true feeling of the arcade Mortal Kombat 1, perfectly, as I remembered playing it in the Arcades. I wish that Midway had stayed with the realistic and "fighter movie" look, which you did and which to me is the whole foundation of Mortal Kombat and what made it stand out fom other Fighter Games, in their newer games too, instead of making it more and more cartoonish and making it a far cry from what made it great in the first place, realistic, lifelike combat. What you are doing is a dream come true for me, and it would absolutely be worth a full-priced game of 50 $ to me should it come out.
Please continue. You are on an awesome track and it would be a shame to stop, when you are almost done. Thank you guys for all your efforts and keep up the awesome work. :)

Dunno, I went back in the thread and spent my daily quota thanking posts I happened to like. XD

BTW, did you consider shortening his feet a bit? (maybe you overlooked that PM)
