Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I create this video, merging the calactyte render video and Bleed skull + Sub-zero renders to see the "final result". And I love it! ^^

Are you looking at the smoke covering his skull?

The pit track sounds awesome, I like it better than the one in MK9.

It has this strange sounding instrument that took me a few listens to get used to.
Sounds like a large pot of water, distorting the pitch.

It's not a big deal I guess, the more I listen to it the less it bothers.

Ah, yeah I considered that it may be black smoke but figured that theyre shades/highlights since thats what you guys we're talking about adding.

and the burned skull will have smoke?
it toasted and the bones maybe have some fire in it yet and smoke
the ground maybe need some fire on it too, or maybe some ashes an the skull foots
like the flesh turning into coal and fall into ground, and fire on the floor show how potent is the scorpion's breath, the physics of the fire are great too, but the fire can last longer a few seconds more, more time to toast the oponent, the sound of fire it will be cool if add some sound to the breath too.
this preview show how amazing will be the final version, woahh!! it's so amazing

Bleed, Fatality flame sprites are all yours:
Located here on Dropbox>

Dropbox\MK1HD\Scorpion\Fatality

You'll probably need to batch crop and resize to the correct dimensions. Please make sure that once you get it all working that you pass along the resized working files back to Interloko.

After checking out the video Maike made of the fatality, it seems like the pool of fire on the ground and the flame engulfing the character should be a lot more intense and fuller instead of a mist of fire. For example:

I can't agree there. I am looking at the original animated sprites as reference. It is a medium size flame the size of the character that lasts for a second. Maybe the flame could last longer but I dont think it should be more intense. Keep in mind the original flame sprite has only 6 frames. My version doubles that.

I think it looks good as of now. If anything, I guess the flare could be a bit taller to better cover the change to the skeleton. Also the whole thing seems a little fast. Other than that, well done, guys!

And thanks for the kind words, Bleed. Glad you liked the Pit track. After a few more listens, I think I'm liking it more. So am I good to move on from this track?

Hmm, I dont know cal...it seems like the flame should engulf the character a lot more and be fuller. Maybe you're right, it may look that way since the fire goes out too quick.

I'm working on the fatality now, converting sprites and coding. I'll probably upload a new video on youtube later.

The track is good, how about making it last for like 3 minutes. I'd like to play it in the new progress video.

Ya know, the track is pretty short. That's how the original was too, clocking in right at a minute. You'd think Dan would keep his tracks at least around 1:30, as the default round time is 90 seconds I believe. I guess it doesn't matter though, since all the tracks were set to loop anyway.

I'll make a longer edit, sure. That will mean I'll have to take a few liberties though to come up with the new parts. I guess it's not really that big a deal. I already took a number of them in this version anyway. haha I always worry that's gonna come bite me in the ass, but that's the only way I can make it interesting for myself. Also, sometimes the original tracks just do things that piss me off. Usually it's minor stuff tho.

You know what, the flame itself could be a little bigger. No matter though I rendered it large so Bleed can scale it up/down however he likes when creating the final fatality.

It's mainly because I don't know how to get the music to loop in mugen yet. Haven't really tried, and another thing is I like to hear these tracks while working, it get's me pumped haha.

I ended up scaling the fire sprites down to 40%, so it matches the sprites. I think you can do that and save some render time. That is, if you want to keep messing with it.

[edit]

I have the sprites working in mugen now, but I've run in to a problem with the smoke. The fire is looking fine transparent, but the smoke becomes invisible because it's too dark. It's making the blaze look really small and weak.

I'll need the actual flames to be large enough to cover the entire body.

I'm fixing the problem, more or less by duplicating the fire sprites a bunch of times. Layer on top of layer, to make it render darker in the game, it doesn't look so bad now.

gonna have to have some pauses and slowdown some.... the whole fatal animation is way to fast.... try this.

mask off frame......pause...... fireball skeleton is roasted..pause....... skeleton falls scorpion is facing camera..pause....

im talking like less than a second pauses.. just to add to the dramticness off the fatal, plus it allows peoples eyes more time to adjust and see the graphics and how good they are...

and that darkness is too much, i could barley make out the skeleton bro... i don't have the slightest clue on that fix... other than going to a lighter skeleton, maybe like the one used for sheeva's skin rip or sindels scream fatal... thats what ya nees, just a little charred is all....

sorry guys, just trying to help... i wish i could do the stuff you guys do, i could fix it up and send it back to you done, to save time and help, but i am just lost, and forgot what little bit i did know about mugen and creations..

I think it looks good for now. Time to move on to another part of the project and then come back to this later with a fresh pair of eyes. I am Artist/Illustrator my self and when I walk away and then come back its always much easier to catch what needs to be changed. LOOKING GOOD THOUGH!!!

Yeah, that's fine cal, I found a way to fix it.

I have it duplicating twice during 4 tics, so 8 layers total and It covers pretty good now.

Justin, the sound is clear at 00:00:20, part of the main melody. I don't know, it just sounds kind of strange to me. You don't have to fix it if you like it, I'm just saying what I felt from it.

As soon as I get the new track, I'll record a video and post it.
