Screw Sony and the crappy technology they rode in on

I'm on my second PlayStation because my last one YLOD and couldn't be repaired. Last night it stopped recognizing game discs and I can no longer play any games. This happened literally after I downloaded Scarlet. No games would boot up and I didn't even get to try her. Got to pay for her but didn't get to try her. Now my PS is toast and I don't have the willingness to give Sony ANOTHER $400 for a third replacement nor do I have the willingness to give the repairman ANOTHER $100 to fix it (my first PlayStation broke and I had it fixed before it broke completely).

Needless to say I'm a little depressed about it but at the same time this will allow for me to do many other things when I normally would be gaming. I just joined this forum a couple days ago and hoped to learn a lot about Mortal Kombat. I also couldn't wait for Rain. That has all blown up in my face. Take care guys (I'm not that upset, it's just a real *****)

F*** Sony. They can go ************** themselves.

It's not about Sony's technology, it's about bad luck and how unstable any technology in the world is.

Ya, your right. It's just really bad luck and I know most of you don't want to hear it. It just really sucks that I can't keep rocking MK. I was just getting good lol

I had the YLOD a week after PSN came back online. I repaired it myself, cost me $8 for thermal grease, and $6 for a start nut wrench. I borrowed a friends heat gun and infrared thermometer. Good stuff.

Rather than give up, look into repairing it yourself. IN my local area, Craigslist has repairment that fix for around $35.

Xbox baby :) I don't think as much effort goes into things today like they used too, they just shove out half done products so they can start on something new. Thats why everything breaks now a days.

There's a local guy here too. I'm probably just gonna bite it and give it to him to fix for $100 (at least its better than the $150)

I'm pretty calm. I just needed to rant a bit lol. This is the second playstation to die on me in a year. What am I suppose to do, shell out another shit ton of money?

Damn! I hope you can fix it soon and go back to playing MK, so you can kill some people (IN THE GAME, PLEASE!) and forget about all of this shit happening.

Buy an Xbox

really, really, the xbox is way way worse i went threw 6 in less then a week no lie i sent them in to microsoft and parts were missing. dont say fan boy because i love xbox and ps3 and wii, gears 3 will be my favorite game until zelda skyward sword, and final fantasy 13-2 or versus 13 comes out.

and for the op, try and vent it put it out in the open or clean the vents of any dust regularly. and turn it off for 10 to 15 mins every three hours so it can rest a bit.

i bought mine used a year ago and it still works like a champ it's how u maintain it i guess.

and fyi ps3 is the worst resell unite of this gen. the guy said i would be back in a week or 2 and nope.

Ok, calm down. You just have bad luck because PS3's rarely YLOD as many of them function for long periods of time. Also, it could be the environment that you use the PS3. For example, if you use it in a hot, humid area next to a TV and really close to a wall, then of course it's going to overheat quickly because it is not ventilated properly and is likely taking in hot air.

Again, that may not be the case, but it could be that or bad luck. Sony has good hardware and is probably the best out of the three main corps for the quality of their system's hardware. Software for Sony is crap though. Microsoft is good software with bad hardware (RROD on around 30% of all Xbox's (that figure has shrunk recently) and the many error codes)) while Nintendo was kind of in the middle, until the Wii(personally, the main problem here is lack of a good graphics processor and the lack of bigger titles other than Mario and Zelda).

Personally, I've never had problems with Sony hardware or services except for the occasional Network downage; I had my PS1 used for 8 years, PS2 for 9 and PS3 for 4 years. All of them still work, so you probably do just have bad luck.

I wish you the best of luck with your system(s) and if you do fix it yourself, be careful. Hopefully you can try out Skarlet. Btw, you can redownload Skarlet at any time as long as you use the account you bought her with. Good Luck!

Thanks man. I'm gonna send it in to a technician around here. I don't want to pay it but I will. I'll just make absolutely sure I never leave it on when I'm not playing it. I left it for a few hours yesterday and I think that was the straw that broke the camels back

YES! I just google mapped the closest local technician and he is literally right around the corner. I can see his shop from my house lol It's gonna be $140 to replace the lens but this is a saving grace. I really want to keep rocking MK. I haven't had this much consistent fun with a video game in a long time
