NRS's lack of communication about the netcode is inexcusable

Justin Drown

BANALITY
So let me just start this off by saying that the game is fantastic as a single player game, and I'm sure it's great in local multiplayer. I'm not wanting to troll here, I just want the community to stand together as a whole, and understand that Boon and NRS not acknowledging the lag is not right.

Before the game was released there were many promises about the netcode. As we've seen most people have had online issues, some are not quite skilled enough to notice the input lag, and some might not even experience lag. Just the fact that most the community has lag is inexcusable.

I understand that a lot of users on here don't care about competitive online, but this thread isn't for you. For those that do care let me say this, I do understand that they may be fixing the online, but the least they owe us after all the promises is communication. Let us know the problems are being fixed. Let us know that MK has turned a new stone, and be a little classy about this.

Its the Holiday weekend, after 3 years of slaving away at this game, they deserve a week off.

Yes the lag is bad but just because they havent communicated with the community about it doesnt mean we need to jump down their throats

Its been 5 days... It will most likely be fixed within the next couple of weeks.

Even a simple tweet stating that a fix is coming would be professional, and classy. I'm sorry, but they promised something, and have failed to deliver so far. The least they can do is man up and admit that there are some issues, and they're working on it. They have a shabby past record with MKvsDC so if they want to continue to sell games this well to a wider audience, than they need to step up their game.

I'm not jumping down their throats. As a community, if you want something done, you voice it. How do you think this awesome 2D styled combat came back? You just have to know the difference.

Yes, 5 whole days, and no word yet. It's not excusable.

Patience. Thats all there is to it. To me they havent been unprofessional at all. They are probably with their families right now not even THINKING about Mortal Kombat and rightfully so. If 1-2 months from now lag still sucks and we hear nothing then you can worry. Its been less than a week. **** doesnt get fixed overnight.

2D Kombat was a given and after Street Fighter 4 and the atrocity of MK vs. DC they would have been fools not to go back to 2D. Not saying that the community didnt help but its not the sole reason they went back to 2D

yes it is. You are assuming that they are just giving the middle finger to all the fans out there and arent going to do anything about it cause they havent said anything about it. When Call Of Duty Black Ops had HORRIFIC lag it was a good 2-4 weeks before a patch came out and before the devs said anything and you know what? No one cared because **** like this happens. Yelling at the devs isnt going to get the work done any faster. They havent said anything because they know we are smart enough to figure out that they are working on it. It happens.

I agree, I'd like to hear something from NRS. I'm sure they are looking into it. You don't just put out a game as anticipated as this and just walk away after launch day.

I agree a simple tweet would do the trick and that's what kind of worries me, If it is something they are working on it seems like they would give us a little something. It's not hard to take 5 minutes to post something on the official site or twitter. I remain optimistic for now and I really hope NR steps up and continues support this game as much as they have for the last 2 years. Here's hoping that next week we will get a tidbit of info like 'a patch is in the works' or 'we acknowledge there are issues and we are working to resolve them''.

The lag has gotten a lot better for me. I'm only getting lag when I run into someone that is overseas, but Justin Drown does have a point. At the moment the netcode is what the community is mostly concerned about, and some reassurance that they're working on it would be nice.

MK9 is also their come back game so they really can't slack off with the support, especially with the upcoming/existing competition in the fighting genre.

The reason that MKvs.DC didnt get any updates online was because of Midway.

Mortal Kombat Crew was working a TRUE MK game and then Midway said.. "All of you.. stop what you are doing.. we need money. make MK vs. DC instead" and the MK crew was forced to make a ****** MK game that NO ONE wanted and they didnt care. Seriously if there is ANYONE that can honestly say they were excited for MK vs. DC then they are either lying or arent real MK fans.

Anyways by the time MK vs. DC was released it was too late and Midway was filing for chapter 11. Why waste the time, money and resources to patch a game for a company thats going under?

Now they are backed by WB. WB is giving NRS the time, money and resources they need to make this the best MK game since 1995 and so far they have delivered. To honestly think that NRS is just going to count their money and go on vacation for a year and not update this game is Ludicrous

It's not like they're just going to ignore this MK and move on to making the sequel. NRS will probably address issues like the lag and glitches in the update containing the new DLC. I'm sure they're actually rather busy putting finishing touches to package it in a few weeks.

I hate to say it ninjustyn and natedoggcata, but this thread isn't really for you. I'm not looking to debate over the issue, I'm looking to discuss the concern me and other fellow users are having. There is no excuse for not giving us a simple tweet. Sure they worked 2 years on it, but this is the games launch. The most important time for a game is launch, and it often makes or breaks future sales.

They have not shown this in the past, so I'm unsure how you can be sure about this.

And this is why I posted this

You can't make a thread with a title like this and not expect a freaking debate. They probably and honestly thought their netcode was great. Internal testing was probably superb.

That's why they had the confidence to say so. Now that the game is out, I'm sure they ate collecting data. And trying to find a solution, they will release a statement when they are able. They probably can't give us anything until they know how to resolve issues.

Let them have some vacation time.

I can deal with the lag and the length of time it takes to find opponents because that will be resolved in due time. However, I hate that when "connection to opponent is lost" I receive a disconnect for it. Hopefully they reset everyone's stats and disconnects because I know I'm not a rage quitter and yet people will see the disconnects and think otherwise. Besides that I think NRS has made one hell of a game!

well if ur plauing online consider urselves lucky to be even online at all. Since PSN is down and we can't play on the Laggy servers we do have... RATS!

Let them have some vacation time.

Imagine if a frozen pizza company promised a frozen pizza with delicious cheese. The best cheese around. They labored over the ingredients for two years, and they finally release it. Now imagine if people get that frozen pizza, only to find out that when it shipped, the cheese went bad.

Now instead of an apology and a, "We'll have the problem fixed", the frozen pizza company sat in silence.

Now imagine if you went on a a frozen pizza forum asking for the silence to get broken, and a bunch of frozen pizza fans started saying things like, "They worked on that formula for that cheese for two years! Give them a break!" and "I don't even eat that said pizza for the cheese!" when you just wanted a simple answer.

I'm not asking for the problem to be fixed over night. I'm asking for respect.

As a customer I entrusted my money to the company, they at least owe me an answer.
