So do you think this game will have a nice competitive scene like SSF4?

I agree 100% to do a special move in street fighter is like doing a fatality in MK, complexity doesn't translate to a better game because it turns the casual player away and the thing I like about MK is its fun for hardcore and casual players, like I said before street fighter best of all fighting games days are over come April 19th

I truley dont understand when you guys say SF has more complex controls. Its always seemed easier, but idk i guess everyone's different. Are you talking about charge moves?

On that note i wish MK had charge characters they are my favorites to use.

Balance isn't as important and gameplay depth. MvC2 isn't the least bit balanced and it was popular in tournaments for over 10 years.

Im saying Gameplay depth that is to deep does not mean its better epecially when it comes to MK, the goal is to try get everybody to play our game especially the casuals eventually they will be on our side

I meant if you just started playing street fighter and your new to the controls it will be complicated at first you know,..but you got some that just want to pick up the game and just play, me personally street fighter never really caught my eye its not that I hate it, its just that to me street fighter is just not as interesting as MK is

Well, it got accepted to Evo, so obviously yes. Taken as seriously AS STREET FIGHTER? Probably not because everyone rides capcom's dick for some reason or another. Dont get me wrong, street fighter is fun, but I dont see why its so "brilliant".

Probably wouldn't have games like MK if it weren't for Street Fighter. The original came out in '87 and pretty much spawned every other fighting game.

Yea i remember Ed saying something about how SF2 inspired him and he wanted to create a "clone' with a twist. Instead of having your opponents get dizzy in the middle of the match he thought it would be cool too see them get dizzy at the end of a fight and land an uppercut for the finishing blow. Then he thought why not take it further and rip his heart out or something. I dont remember the exact story but im glad MK was one of the few successful games spawned from the early 90's SF2 craze. (along with SNK fighters, virtua fighter, etc)

He also said that SF4 was the inspiration to go back to 2D in MK. Its great how the team can repect SF and learn from it.

You know, I really don't understand how anyone of you can even consider Street Fighter or Tekken to be even be close as to where MK is. There is no other word I can say for those game other then they're dumb and stupid. All they are is stupid, complicated button-mashers that have no point to them whatsoever. No story, dumb characters, never understood how they are more popular then MK.

They are better fighting games (atm) Simple as that.

Relax there a second buddy.
What ends up giving a game its life is its depth and fighting engine. The MKs have (and most people agree) sucked ass after Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Tekken and Street Fighter had more depth in its finger nails than MK4-MKA had put together. If you don't know how to play them at a level above button mashing, then just don't play them. But saying that they are straight up stupid is pretty ridiculous of you dude. You saying that, it's very obvious that you have no idea how to play those games like an experienced player.

It's okay for you to like MK more than SF and Tekken, but don't ever say "All they are is stupid". That's fanboyism.

Surley you jest. If not then please elaborate.

Its fine if you dont like those games but they are great fighters with alot of depth.

No Street Fighter and Tekken are for experienced players and You probably don't like it for the same reason I don't. You're not an experienced player.

street fighter is a much more technical game then any of the previous mortal combats - no one can argue that - you have moves that cancel, you have focus attack dash cancels, you have frame traps, etc - that is why it has such a huge tournament following, its a serious and technical game for serious players.

I have a feeling this mortal kombat will be the best tournament worthy mortal kombat ever. and that is a great thing.

You can hate on me all you want, but no THEY ARE NOT!

As far as depth and competition goes id have to agree with mike. (MKDA-MKvsDC) Honestly Tekken and SF has always been better gameplay wise, which is the most important aspect to any fighter imo, but of course thats not to say that MK hasnt been enjoyable. I mean we're all here for a reason.

I love Tekken. Me + King = my foot in your ass.

And as far as gameplay is concerned, I love MK for its characters and story. Gameplay is just an added bonus for me.

i forgot to mention in my other post - there is option selects, and 50/50s all very technical gameplay elements of sf4

Yes, I am an experienced player. I have looked into both sides of games and Mortal Kombat is the only that catches my interest. Street Fighter and Tekken are extremely childish and have NO DEPTH TO THEM WHATSOEVER!!

Now I sorta get the feeling that you're just tryna rile up the board and get responses out of us, but if you are serious then...my apologies.

sft4, tekken, mk they are all excellent fighting games. does anything else really matter.

Yes, this Mortal Kombat will have a great competitive scene, i believe

No they are not, they don't have depth whatsoever and that is my exact point. They retarded fighting games with no point at all.

No hate here. As someone who plays Tekken professionally AND dabbles in Street Fighter from time to time, I consider them both better than MK AT THE MOMENT. I'm reserving full judgment until MK2011. You on the other stop hating on more popular games....

Oops fed the troll my bad folks

Ed has said in a few interviews that they had the idea for 2d before SF4 was even announced. He said seeing the reception it got helped them feel assured about their decision.

No it has not, whatever I'm not arguing with you people anymore. Mortal Kombat it is a better fighting game series in all ways possible whether you people like it or not.

I wouldnt call that an argument....Also you never even explained why you thought MK was better.

On topic Will this game have cross ups of any kind?
