The death of Reptile and Kitana?

i don't think reptile will die mmmh

the fella had too little luck in the other games. i hope good things will happen to him for a change...

Personally i actually think that a good well played out death or two can add to the epicness of the game. But i always have a love hate relationship with seeing one of my favorite character's go. Johnny Cage (who i have already seen go), Sheeva (Who died too), and Shang tsung are probably my favorite characters who i wouldnt actually mind seeing dying again but there needs to be more to it than just dying. Like dying heroically or doing something really dastardly and getting some spotlight because of it

I'd be cool with thinking someone died. Like in a story mode cutscene say Reptile was trying to protect Shang Tsung in the pit, but Liu Kang knocks Reptile off. We don't see Reptile fall on the spikes, but we see him fall. He then comes back later in the story extremely bruised and battered from his fall. This would generate the felling of an icon dying, without the consequences.

Yeah, but some of these are huge fan favorites. For a game that's meant to be a reboot or sorts, you don't want to kill off characters like Kitana and Reptile so early on.
Shouldn't the MK2 tournament be somewhere in the middle of the game? Perhaps near the end?

For someone like me, that hasn't given a shit about MK since part four, it would be very sad to see someone like Kitana die off in one game.
Considering we have ruthless killers like Sub-Zero participating in this tournament "killing anyone that gets in their way" and sparing lives only rarely, it's beyond me how so many people have survived these tournaments or why so many people have a problem with the concept of a lot of people dying.

I think there's a reason why only six characters are having the spotlight right now for that NRS forum, with vignettes, written biographies and fatality wallpapers. Only a select few will probably survive and rise up to be big time players, and I think they'll be Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Liu Kang, Shao Kahn and Raiden. It would only make sense that NRS can't have an equal focus for everyone. Not everyone can win and be champion. Not everyone can get their revenge on everyone.

Let's also forget that this game is a lot of events put into one game.

Why people don't die: because the game is not realistic to begin with, and for gameplay sake.

It could happen, but I'd prefer it not to.

It might not enrage Liu Kang at this point if her death would be in the second tournament because their relationship was still fresh and I would imagine he would still perceive her as an untrustworthy enemy since she was, in fact, part of the massacre of his fellow Shaolin monks.

Perhaps it might even be an attempt to retcon out the whole Edenian plot with her dying before she "remembers" anything, so things will go on as if she was always Shao Kahn's daughter...

I get the fact that characters have to die. But Reptile and Kitana are fan favorites. It probably isn't wise to kill them both off in the first game of the rebooted series. Reptile, maybe. But Kitana?

Would be a shocking twist, don't you think? I agree it's questionable... But it's just obviously a thought that comes to mind when you see Mileena's vignette that can't be ignored.
