WB releases press info with update on pre-order info

I just called gamestop and they know nothing of a kollector's edition for MK 2011, is this going to be announced in the near future? Theres also no Kollector's/Tournament edition on Bestbuy's site. I am stoked for this and I'll be getting a regular copy and Kollector's edition.

Decided to just tag this on here - Ed boon just tweeted:

noobde: A number of people have axed so I thought it was worth answering. Every character has 2 fatalities. Not disabling any fatalities for retail.

EDIT:

Come on guys, do you really think we'd release the game with some characters having only 1 fatality and give the other to retail exclusive?

However, that doesn't mean we aren't going to disable the X button for everyone except 7-11 customers! Think about it....

yea i dont think the retail sites have listed the special editions as of yet.

well i just ordered the game, on the site it says if you order they email the reptile things to you 2 days after shipping, but there is nothing about a TE at all. So im hoping everything is good, but i honestly have no idea what i am getting.

Amazon hasn't updated their website yet for buyers to preorder the Kollector's edition or Tournament edition. Any order you make now will be for the standard edition. What they do have ready on the website is the Reptile preorder stuff, which comes with ALL editions of the game on Amazon. The MK twitter even said that it takes time for all of the preorder information to go up on the sites. So if you want a different edition besides the standard edition, wait for a few more days until it shows up, or if you already did the preorder, just give them an email to switch it when the different edition shows up.

edit- that Boon Twitter on 7-11 X button thing - I have no idea what he means by that. Maybe WB will do promotions with 7-11 for MK when it comes out? Like Sony did with the Slurpees, to give away Sony games?

I think your reading to far into it, I believe he was just making a joke.

Ya, you're probably right. I thought it would be a joke, especially with how Boon always tries to throw people off. But I just thought I'd put out the possibility.

Screw this tbh..

All these should be in the default vanilla game.. WTH N.REALM!!!??

Severely disappointed... don't take Crapcom's route and shove everything in DLC format..

This seriously pissed me off.

· Best Buy: Customers who pre-order their copy of Mortal Kombat at Best Buy will get exclusive access to the Klassic Sub-Zero Playable Character Skin and the original Sub-Zero Fatality.
Wait, isn't his original fatality already in the game? We saw him do it to Johnny Cage in The Subway level. Now that Best Buy pre-order seems kinda pointless...

Anyway, I'll be getting the Reptile one from Amazon, mainly because everyone else is going to get the other two, and I personally think seeing an updated version his MK2 fatality would look awesome.

Little update that really is pointless: MK_MortalKombat MK Community Manager
Soon. RT @MancoTheGr8: @MK_MortalKombat When do we get more details on the "fight stick"?

Im 90% sure that the "exclusives" that we arent able to redeem with a pre-order code will become available as DLC for everyone in due time post-launch. The developers wouldnt pass up the chance to make some more money since they know they diehards will want every attire/fatality!

And you're happy spending money on something that should be in the game from the start?

Oh wait a minute.. it's already there on the disc..

I hate how devs abuse DLC; Never bought DLC, never well.

EXTREMELY bummed that N.Realm took this route...

DLC isn't entirely NRS choice... It's WB marketing.

Seriously... What is up with you people? You take something that can be totally awesome and trample on it in the most depressing manner.. Didn't anybody ever tell you that negative people are not at all desirable to be around? Live positively and see the light side of things. Otherwise, your living like you're dying all the time. Not healthy!

I will be ordering an Amazon Reptile edition for PS3, myself. I will get whichever edition has the arcade stick! I'm so excited!!

Also, Amazon has labeled that the retro costume and fatality will be a code to get DLC for free.. In this, they are stating that DLC will be available for PSN and 360 from launch date. I'm certain we will all be able to purchase all of the retro ninja attire and fatalities on launch date! And, I can't imagine them costing more than a couple bucks a piece. I will be getting all of them! The retro reptile is just SOOOO perfect! Reminds me of accidentally stumbling upon Reptile when I was a kid.

I haven't been anticipating a game like this for a long while! Praise MK Team! And, amazing job to all us forum members who have stayed positive and put our faith in the masters(NRS), without whom MK would be dead by now.

Keep polishing up that game and let's make the release date a moment to behold for all of us :) I can't wait to start seeing pictures of people tearing the wrapping off their games!

They wouldn't deny us all three skins. If they do, that's pretty damn cruel. Still... I'll pre order with either Gamestop or Best Buy. Even though I want the Reptile skin the most.

I'm not fond of Amazon when it comes to ordering shit like this and expecting it the day of release.

Guys, come on... You are gonna actually believe that NR is gonna deprive us of all the skins, and keep them store exclusive? You must be crazy, that is terrible marketing and do you know how much fan backlash that will have? I know some of us are down to buy 3 games for the 3 skins, but not everyone is that intense, NR knows that. Its gonna be DLC, you have my word on that one. It might not be initially, they might pull a soul calibur IV and release them way later (which i wished they did with kratos) so i wouldnt think there is anything to worry about.

Boon said today on twitter that every character will have 2 fatalities for free to all gamers who buy MK, on the disc- no DLC code. So it seems that only the 3rd fatalities will be extra, either through pre-ordering or buying the fatality from the online store. The only character that might not have 2 fatalities is Kratos, since today's press release said he will come with his moves, arena, and fatality (singular).

I believe the same will happen for the alt costumes. A 2nd costume will be unlockable in the Krypt or something, and the 3rd costumes (like these retro ones) will be gotten through preorders or bought on the online store.

And I'm with you on that.

What I'm against is actually charging us via DLC for skins that should be in the game free of charge.

This is just abuse, I hate this so much, just like SF4 DLC costume packs. Don't care how cheap they are.

This practice should be abolished.

DLC for skins, DLC for fatalities, DLC for characters, what next? Pay to play online? All which have to be readily available from the start!! Screw this.

Im digging the classic MK fight stick, wondering why there is a run button though, either way that just sealed it for me for the 360 version.

I usually hate store exclusives simply because it makes it so you can't have a complete game with everything, but as long as it all ends up as downloadable for everyone at some point I am extremely happy with this. I love nostalgia, I love klassic kustumes, and I love klassic fatalities. So I am digging the fact that they are even offering this, regardless if we have to pay a few extra bucks to obtain it all. When it comes to DLC, nobody has to buy it if they don't like to pay a little more, so it's completely up to you. I for one support this kind of extra stuff, and have no problem paying some more money as long as the content is worth the price.

I am undecided on exactly which version I want, and which store I want to get it from. I am not a huge supporter of either of those 3 ninjas, but out of the 3 Sub-Zero is the one I like to use the most. However, my friend's favorite is Sub-Zero, so it's guranteed that he'll get that one...so hmmm. That Human Reptile sure does look pretty awesome, but idk if I can wait any extra time for the thing to ship to play this game. Decisions decisions...

I am happy with the Avatar Kostumes as well. I have yet to pay for any sort of Avatar kostumes, because I think paying for a virtual kostume is retarded, but I have always said the only 2 franchises that would tempt me to the point where I would prob. give in are Mortal Kombat and Batman. So...yeah...WB has me by the balls on that one lol. So it's cool that they're doing that.

Overall, it's awesome to see WB obviously does see what they have with this franchise, and they are doing their best to get it back to AAA status. NRS is really bringing their A game this time. We as fans, little setbacks or disagreements aside, should be pretty happy with the quality of the game this time around.
