Kratos to star in upcoming mortal kombat

A slightly less poor character in exchange for straight up poor characters is not redeemable. How bout *gasp* GOOD CHARACTERS?! Or better yet, characters that belong in the MK universe.

I'm talking crazy, I know. But it's an idea.
 
I do not know why we should take this with a grain of salt if Kratos is confirmed in the Official Playstation Magazine.

Anyway I am happy about this and am very excited to see what his fighting is like.

I say we should cry about things that are more important, such as the lack of unique and creative fatalities that don't involve dismembering the opponent, Kitana's black bag of goo hanging off her head that's supposed to be hair, etc.

Also, I find some classic MK characters to be pretty piss poor, such as Noob and Rain. But that's just my personal preference. They'll be in this game, and I'll have to play against them, but I"m not going to let it ruin the game for me.

You can complain about those things in other threads. But this one is about Kratos. Kratos complaints go here. Git et?

See, Noob and Rain belong in MK. No matter how you may feel about them. Noob IS the original Sub-Zero. He very much belongs in these games.

Kratos isn't even an MK product. He belongs in his own lame-ass universe. Even if I liked Kratos, I wouldn't support bringing him into MK9. I love Link, but I would be pissed off if he ever showed up in Mortal Kombat.

They could have a Killer Instinct character for the 360 version.

If they have Cinder in the game just imagine the amount of people that would get him confused with Blaze.
 
i have XBOX 360, and am soo against seeing kratos in the new game, so i dont give a damn if he will be or not.
i really really dont understand it. WHY PUTTING KRATOS IN A MORTAL KOMBAT GAME?! what is the point? if i wanna play with kratos i will buy gow!
trust me, it will ruin the story line of the game... can you imagene this? fighting liu kang with kratos? omg it just so horrible.
well that's my personal opinion.
 
I'm a huge fan of both franchises, yet I think having Kratos here would be a bad idea.

I'd rather see NR not waste time and resources developing Kratos, his moves, fatalities and the arena if they're gonna be half assed. I'd play God of War if I wanna play God of War, and I'll play MK if I wanna play MK. But I wouldn't complain about using him for the lulz once in a while.

However, I really think some of you guys are over-reacting because he isn't in story mode...so Kratos won't pop up on your way to fighting Shao Kahn. He's just a ****ing bonus character.You people comparing his inclusion to MK vs DC is laughable. That game was exactly that....MK vs DC. This game is simply MK. Not MK vs optional bonus character.
Besides, if he has fatalities, theres a good chance you'll get to perform fatalities on him too...so you haters can enjoy obliterating him if you wish to.
Anyway, you shouldn't make such a huge fuss about this when you can completely avoid using him/fighting against him if you wish to.

And God of War isn't a lame franchise....take that back NAO !!! lol... :D

Also, as many have said, this is probably very fake.
 
Kratos is one of the best character's in video game history. I have played every Mortal Kombat game and every God of War game and let me tell you he fits perfectly. Remember he is a bonus character he will not be included in the story. How does a murdering God, not fit into Mortal Kombat???? Imagine a fatality with the blades of chaos. Damn cool.

WHAT? How can you even say that? Do you even play video games? Kratos imo, is one of the worst. He's not likable in the slightest. The man murders his family and then gets pissed off because the Gods wont erase his memories or something stupid. He's no where near one of the best characters in video game history. He just whines, kills and screams at the sky.
 
I don't think that it's very likely that he'll appear in Mortal Kombat since he's a playable character in the PSP version of Soul Calibur 4.
Would rather see Voldo do a crossover if that was ever to happen ;}

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion. He is entitled to his. No one is right and no one is wrong.

However, your assumption of Kratos is based on God of War 1 only. What Kratos does is in no way good....he is an anti-hero.

Kratos was tricked into killing his own family, and as a curse, the village oracle made the ashes of his wife and child stick to his body and gave him those nightmarish visions. He was bargained the erasing of those visions in exchange to Ares's death, but they were never erased....so he was tricked by the Gods yet again.

In GoW II he is attacking Greek cities and is pissed off for reasons explained in GoW Ghost of Sparta (I will not go there cause I can't be bothered to explain). Then Zeus feels threatened by him and kills him, so with the help of the titans he sets out to change his fate using the power of the sisters of fates and get revenge from Zeus.

I won't go for GoW III either, but it shows that Kratos isn't just an angry, bald asshole in the end.


And where does he whine ? Thats new....he is always angry, thats for sure...but he doesn't whine. If you think he is lame, I wanna know what you think of Johnny Cage, Stryker and some of the MK characters in the post UMK3 era.

I thought God of War III made this generation of gaming GREAT for me, as people think CoD and its 2132987696213 million clones are whats cool these days. I can't wait for MK, which I've been playing for 13 years now....since I was 6... ROFL

I think God of War is one of the best franchises ever with great boss battles and generation defining graphics and great gameplay, and I know a lot of MK players love it cause well, we all like brutal stuff, don't we ?

Point is Matt, you may not like God of War, or Kratos...but that doesn't mean your opinion is better than everyone else's and it the ultimate truth or something...at the end of the day, its just ****ing opinion.

I urge the God of War fans on this site to not drag this on with this guy (who has clearly not liked the first game of the series) and keeps hating on it. Lets just be happy knowing that we get to enjoy 2 great franchises (what, you're a mk fan if you're on this site, right ?) and he just isn't lucky enough to enjoy one of them.

And now you're just being arrogant. If this is even real, Kratos is simply a bonus character....maybe pre-order exclusive DLC...I doubt he'll even be in the roster...he'll probably be in a pop up roster. ****ing bonus content...additional stuff...stuff that you don't even have to enjoy the ****ing game.

The guy is loved by many many fans of his, and someone on the fence about MK might pick this up because of it...its obviously a marketing tactic...but yet again, you don't have to play as him. So drop the ball will you ?

I sincerely hope not, I'm against having guest characters lest this turn into Soul Calibur all over again. We saw what SC IV turned into once they decided to turn it into Star Wars.

As long as he doesn't interfere with the game's story modes and isn't broken I guess it's not too bad. Plus I'm a 360 owner, so if we're not getting him we are likely to be getting Master Chief or something to that effect....(not that it's any better).

Please don't sell out on us Boon! Mortal Kombat needs to replenish what made it awesome and stick to its fans, not become a cash cow lest you turn into EA
