Mortal Kombat Annihilation (movie sequel) shooting has been completed in North Wales. The crew used the some of the same locations used for Willow (the scooper pointed out the slate mountains of Llanberis, near Mount Snowdon, as an example.) Quad bikes were used to transport the crew from the roadside to the set. The $30 million dollar film is scheduled to shoot in 5 countries, including Jordan and Israel.

I saw this on the Lin Kuei Headquarters, that "Mortal Kombat Duo" was released last month for the PC. Don't think that it's just the same two games on one cd. Well, even though MK2 is the same it's worth the bucks to get it for the new version of MK1. The sounds were taken directly from the arcade. (no more zips and dinks) The game now takes up 18 megs of HD space and requires 4 megs of ram, but SirGalahad recommends 16 megs.

We all know that MK4 is gonna be 3D, but the real question is "When is this mofo coming out?" In EGM #90, the Q-man shares a little gossip on the approximate time when MK4 will hit the arcades.

"Our sources at Midway have also revealed to us that Mortal Kombat 4 us now expected to come out in the arcades in late April or early May of [1997] with the Playstation and Nintendo 64 versions due out in late
October."

Here I am people. This is it. I hope you like the trimmed down design and the streamlined links section. Now this is the address it's gonna be at for now, but in the future I plan to move to http://mkrealm.hotweird.com. In order to get the site up and running ASAP (which is my first intention) we'll have to be at http://hotweird.com/mk/. It's still short, but you still have to type that annoying "/" :) I hope you like the new layout. I'm always open to new suggestions or new graphics. You can reach me at jeff@hotweird.com

Electronic Gaming Monthly did this in the new mag. (Issue #90) It payed attention to following MAJOR categories:

Character Size and Animations

Sub-Zero

Bosses

Shao Kahn's Treasures

Bugs (or lack there of)

*Price*

The categories in red are the ones that seemed a plus for the Playstation version. The ones in blue are a plus for the Nintendo64. Even though it looked like the N64 won hands down, the category of price weighed heavily in the reviewers decisions. The final vote ended up 3:1 for Playstation. If you think diffrently (cause I do), then let's have our own poll. Right here, right now.

The polls are open. Please take a few minuets to read over the categories and only vote once. Only you can make this work

On a totally unrelated topic, Netscape Navigator 4.0 beta 1 for Windows 95 is now available. Communicator is a group of programs intergrated into the netscape.exe (Browser, Editor, Messaging, Schedular, and much more.) This version is still quite buggy and the new look to the toolbar is remarkably similar to Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Netscape 4.0 Toolbar(image altered to fit area)
One of my main dissapointments is the absence of the Open Button. If you feel that the Open Button should return then go to http://cgi.netscape.com/cgi-bin/auto_bug.cgi and fill out the form stating that you want the Open Button in 4.0! I would be greatful if you did. You can get Netscape Communicator at ftp://ftp20.netscape.com/pub/communicator/4.0/4.0b1/windows The 6 meg file is the typical version, and the 9 meg version is the maximum version with plugins and other stuff. If ftp20.netscape.com is busy then you can just substitute the 20 with numbers 2 through 13.
Overall this new version of Netscape is a step ahead of the rest. I'll add some new 4.0 features to the page as soon as a stable beta version is released.

Ok. So I admit it, absolutly NOTHING MK related is happening. So, if MKT for PC is released today or tomorrow then I'll update, but for now there won't be any other updates until Thursday. I guess this update right now is better than me just blanking for 3 days. Actually, comes to think about it, there is something MK related I can talk about. What's the deal with Mortal Kombat Trilogy? Let's look at the Playstation version. I went shopping and saw 20 copies of MKT and there was like only 3 or 4 of every other game. Did Williams make too many, or is it just because this type of Mortal Kombat has been juiced to the max? Now let's look at the Nintendo64 version. I went to the N64 section of the videogames department and there was absolutly NOTHING left to buy for the Nintendo64. From games to accessories nothing was in stock, except 16 copies of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Jeez, I mean when a RF converter outsells a game, that's gotta hurt. I know that it's not fair to compare a game to a RF converter, or that it could be that parents don't want their kids to play Mortal Kombat, or it could be the excellent distribution of Williams, but come on, it's been like this for more than a month. I know that many people will disagree when I say: MK3, UMK3, MKT, what's the big diffrence? Absolutly NOTHING! You may say MKT and UMK3 have more characters, but does that really change the game? It still plays the same, looks the same, and sucks the same. MK3 was nice for the first 4 months, but why does Midway have to milk this product for 3 years? It's the same crap packaged with new features to make you pay more money for the same game. -- This is my opinion. jeff@hotweird.com

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas this year. I bought a new USR 33.6 Internal modem. The one I had before only connected at 26400 max and I just now put the new one in and I got a 28800 connection! Damn, I've called SWBell twice to get there butts down here and fix my phone line because it was only giving me 26400, and both times it didn't help. Now with this great contraption I get a 28800 connect. Woo Hoo!

So the movie dosen't look like it will be a spoof of Mortal Kombat, but "Beverly Hills Ninja" is now advertising their movie as "Putting the mortal back into combat." "Beverly Hills Ninja" starring Chris Farley (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep) and Robin Shou (Mortal Kombat, Liu Kang) travel through Beverly Hills and are constantly approached by clans of ninjas everywhere they go. The fighting scenes are comical and have the wit that Farely so well displays. With the casting of Robin Shou, "Beverly Hills Ninja" might be worth the money to see Robin Shou before he appears in the sequal to "Mortal Kombat: The Movie," "Mortal Kombat Annihilation."

I have to go away for a few days. I'm sure that nothing HUGE in the world of MK will show up in the course of the next 4 days. So, everyone have a "Happy New Year" and don't kill anyone while drunk. That'll just ruin your whole year. Remember, that ain't EGG NOG!!!
