Due to film development timelines, I wouldn't expect to see it until 2006 at this rate... so don't hold your breath.

I think they're trying to wait and see how deception does. Just to see if they could use any of it's storyline and/or characters in the movie. Because wasn't it also suppost to be released back in Febuary of 2003? Then April of 2004? etc etc.

That is a long wait... Hopefully it will come out around the time of the next MK already in the early stages... :D

It isn't. It's going to start filming in about a month.
Damn unreliable sources.

Actually, the source that I have couldn't be more reliable. Let's just say it's someone EXTREMELY close to the project. Not to mention I have close contacts with Robin Shou and Linden Ashby as well.

I heard that the next movie is going to be the real sequel to the first movie. They are going to act as if the second one never happened and start the story from there. Dont know how reliable that info is though.

That's still a rumor for what we know, I hope it's treated as such because the last movie was terrible. I will not sit through that movie again and refuse to purchase it. I guess not purchasing it hurts the next movie, but looks like the next movie is still going on. I know people who never played MK that LOVE the first movie, and aren't even aware of a second. So I think they could pull this off. Get the cast back and some good directors and writers up for the task of making a great movie. And I think they should just call it MK2 and maybe with a subtitle after it, to make it clear that it's a sequel to MK1.

On the imdb website it says that both the original Raiden and the original Johnny Cage are signed up for the movie. Many of the info on the site has been known to change though so take it for what its worth.

Yeah, I remember when Leonetti and Roger Christian were said to be directing.   For that matter, I remember when it was supposed to be made in 1999!
