Trouble with Combos - Need help

I can pull off the simple 3 and 4 hits and if I'm lucky I can get a 5 hit but anything more than that I find extremely hard. If anybody has any tips that can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Who do you use?

If Sub-Zero, then know that he has slower, low hit count combos that do large amounts of damage.

youtube is your friend. a lot of the crazy combos you see on there however are from the beta where combos were obscene. But i learned a few sub zero combos i would have never thought of. Just type in mk9 (character) combos. the videos may not show you the buttons to do them but it will show you what youre capable of. another thing to remember is that with most characters combos you can input them very fast and give yourself a second to kinda set up for the next strikes.

example: with sub zero i hit back x y very fast then down forward a even though the combo is still going on because i did his ice blast right after it will automatically do it. then i hit y x y back forward b+rt. this does a 3 hit combo and an automatic enhance slide. the whole thing together took a little bit to master but it does about 35% damage and is easy to pull off.

with some characters they can hit you a million times but not do a ton of damage ie scorpion(shut up fan boys he hits like a water balloon unless hes comboing). they key balance with character combos is that some people ie sub zero have smaller combos that hit harder and give you utility while others hit faster and hit more with less damage.

Not sure if this helps but i tried :P

I started off with Sub-Zero and the most I could get off him was a 6 hit combo. Now I have been using Ermac for a while and I can get 3 hit combos off and sometimes 4 I never get more then that with him.

This helps bro, the ermac combos I see on youtube is just to advanced. I seen one on there that he did a 14 hit combo, I can't even do a 1/4 of that. I need some steps into helping be become better. It's simply not working for me :( . What I have realized too is that when I am in a match online I keep reverting back to the same combo, I don't know why :|

it takes time. it really does. I don;t think ive met a player of any fighting game that just picked it up and in a few days was amazing. Another thing to do is go into the practice mode. see patterns in moves. short a combo one hit and add a special move. dash foreward when you launch them into the air and time your 3 button combo as theyre falling. or freeze them as they are falling and then do a 4 hit combo. right there youve combo'd 2 hits into a special move blasted them into the air froze them and landed with a nice hard hitting sub zero combo. thats 7-9 hits right there. the practice zone is your friend. but also dont forget. a combo you cant set up in a real match might as well be a dead combo. practice all of your moves coming out of a block or the air. i know it may sound like dumb advice but i live by it
