If NRS could make such nice models and renders that would be awesome.

Oh they can model stuff like that, it's the fact that the game engine running at 60fps it's hard to get hair looking as good as they can model it. It's something they are working on improving with every game, but it's a major tech problem for games in general.

They have unique animations at the VS screen now, which is much better imo. And makes up for the weak icons.

When I saw Scorpion's eyes on fire and Sub-Zero crush ice with his bare hands, as they were selected and stepped into the foreground, I was like "AHHHHHHHHHH, I CAME!!!"
It's little details like that which make MK X look leaps and bounds better than MK9.
I could care less for boring icons, as the character select animations quickly made me forget about all of that.
