New-Gen Second Screen and Camera Features

- I was hoping this would be a cool feature to have if a new Mortal Kombat game were to be released on the Wii U platform but it seems that's not going to happen anytime soon. A perfect feature for the Gamepad would've been to have a "smart" moves list that would update according to what was happening on the screen.

Example being, when you defeat and opponent and the words "FINISH HIM/HER" appear on-screen the Gamepad would automatically update from the list of normal/special moves to the Fatality move list.

It'd be cool if NRS would create a companion app for Mortal Kombat X for the PS4/XO with this functionality. Having the moves list in the pause menu is a must but it would be amazing to be able to have a second device that would automatically switch to the Fatality move list when the Finishing Prompt appears! That way you could quickly look up unlocked Fatalities without having to break the flow of the match by pausing every time the Finishing Prompt appears. And even better if you have a buddy watching your match next to you, they would be able to easily read you the corresponding commands for whatever finishing move you wish to perform!

- Another feature I would absolutely love to have included would be the auto-switching of character placement depending on the location of a players controller.

This is where if one person (P2right-side) hands their controller to another who is sitting in a spot on the left, the controller would get reassigned to the P1left-side so the player locations match their character start positions onscreen.

The light on the DualShock 4 was made to interact with the PS Camera for features such as this. It's a cool idea for situations where you have multiple people sitting on a couch and are handing off the controller every fight. I've been in a crowded situation like this and it sucks having to rearrange everyone when passing the controller. For players with a PS Camera or Kinect it would be an awesome, awesome feature to have!

These are the only two features I can think of off the top of my head right now I would really, really want MKX to make use of but I'll add more if they pop into my head!

Anyone can feel free to add their thoughts on whether or not these are features they'd like to see included as well.

Thought of another camera feature they could include as a bonus.

Now this would be purely for fun and I wouldn't want them to take time away from polishing the title but this could be a fun, very little extra for people with cameras for their consoles.

If they include Fatality Trainer, there could be an option to scan you or a friends face in via the PS Camera or Kinect and have it mapped onto a male or female generic, dummy body that you could then perform the Fatalities on.

Like Face Raiders for the 3DS, only for uber-violent Fatalities! ;P

Could be a fun little extra, no?

Am I the only one who hates that the controller directions get inverted depending on your position on the screen?

They tried to dumb it down so that people wouldn't have to mentally reverse the instructions, but IMO they actually made it really annoying, requiring us to think what side of the screen our character was to know whether a left arrow means forward or backwards.

Hahaha, yeah I know what you mean. I think they thought it'd be best to know how to perform the moves from the exact direction your character is facing.

I'm actually indifferent on the subject but I would love for them to add an option to change it so the inputs always read as if you're on the left side. That way it's more consistent with what older players (like me) are used to, with having movelists in magazines, game guides and such. A toggle when in the Moves List would be pretty easy to implement I think.

Like with some racing/open-world games. They give you the ability to choose if the HUD map stays static with North always remaining at the top of the map, or if you want the map to turn with the players car. I personally choose the latter because I like knowing the left turn I see on my map is actually a left turn for my car.

Having a similar option for the Moves List would be pretty awesome I think!

I know it's showing exactly what you need to do, but my brain interprets the directions as "forward/backward" and not "left/right" so if I don't remember where my character was on the screen, I'm screwed.
I need to look at some other move to see if they're flipped or not.

Yeah I hear ya! It would be an awesome option to add to the Moves List. More options are only a good thing!
