I live in a pretty diverse city. I was singled out for being a minority when I was younger. At the high school I used to attend, while the faculty and staff may take pride in the diversity of students, the cafeteria was segregated during lunch hour. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, etc. had there own sections. There wasn't much in the way of open hostility and there was intermingling with students from different backgrounds, but it goes to show how people tend to flock to those who look like themselves. There are some ugly incidents, but they are sporadic. It's not so out control where whole race/ethnic communities resort to large scale violence and other hostile acts.
