So theres a New MK, cool
and it has a lot of creative combo potential!... super cool! right?..
sounds great until you watch some gameplay footage.
First thing you notice is that the gameplay looks very stiff like MK11, even smaller light characters hit with the power of a tank, and on top of that the animations for certain moves come out at lightning speed so there is this jarring contrast of slow input and fast output that just makes the game look and feel like it has broken janky physics and no true flow to it. characters are heavy and sluggish one moment then light as a feather and agile in the next which overall just looks and feels very off.
a lot of the time you can barely read what the characters are even doing.

How dont NRS notice/care about this? in a game about martial arts the game flow should be the one main thing to be perfected before anything else.
so having unlimited combo potential does not mean a thing if everything looks so jank.
MK9 had a much better flow to it. you could always read what the characters were doing and that was 12 years ago so its baffling that the gameplay looks worse now than back then, don't get me wrong 9 wasn't perfect and had a lot of room for improvement but there was definitely a steady core flow to the movements and it did not have the jarring janky flow issues that MK 11/1 and injustice have.

and the Kameo system only makes things worse as now on top of the janky gameplay you now have the messyness of characters jumping in and out like monkeys that just make it looks silly and messy. again MK9 did it better with its tag mode and assists just seem like an out of touch watered down version.

and simply making the dash or walk speed faster as some have mentioned does not fix the root of the issue.

MK desperately needs to get a good martial arts flow back into its core gameplay system otherwise everything else, graphics, visuals, etc no matter how much they improve upon is ultimately pointless.
and the ninja element for some reason has gone out the window, ninjas don't even flip when they jump or sweep with their legs anymore :/ and they all hit with the force of a heavy brawlers than martial artists.
The potential is right there undoubtedly but until they sort out that uncanny jank i just cant commend it as the top fighting game series that its held to be.
