Just in case you were impatiently waiting until next month to see what Threshold has planned for the replacement to Star Trek: Voyager, you're going to have to wait a lot longer. Voyager is still on for this following season and will air its final episode in May 2001, not this May. In May 2001, Threshold will air a pilot derived from the web-based Federation of Martial Arts. Based on the popularity of that pilot, considerations will be made on whether to create another MK series to air in the 2001 fall season. So don't expect to see MK on UPN until next year.

It seems Mortal Kombat lead programmer, Ed Boon, has changed his personal website noob.com. It has been totally changed, no longer containing the MK Gold content as before. Thanks to Michael Foley for the notice.

We at TRMK are speculating on the new information on Mortal Kombat lead programmer Ed Boon's personal website noob.com. Recent redesigns are slowly revealing information on Ed's new non Mortal Kombat game that he has been working on for Midway. The game has been reported to be a First Person Shooter (FPS) style game for the arcade. Not much else is known, but the recent addition of new images on noob.com are starting to make us think that this game may be in the tradition or form of the now 10 year old arcade classic, Smash TV, a game show style shoot'em up game. Again, this is only speculation and stay tuned for more information as it develops.

In addition to free discussion, during special events, we will make available opportunities for you to tell us what you want us to find out about future games. These message boards are for you, our readers. Only you can dictate the content; however, we ask that you keep it clean so that as many people as possible can enjoy participating in the discussions. We are very excited about our new Message Board. We look forward to reading your opinions. Drop by and say hello!

The crack artist team at TRMK has created an image that would best represent our speculation on Ed Boon's new game. While this image is in no way a representation of what the actual game will look like, it is very close to what we have in mind of what the game should look like. Remember this is an "Artists Conception" and is for entertainment purposes only. We hope you enjoy and experience the same excitement we experience when we look at the possibilities that this image introduces. Hrmm... THEGRID?

TRMK has just received confirmation that the title of Ed Boon's next game is indeed THEGRID. While our Smash TV themed speculations of THEGRID may have been a little ambitious, the humor aspect will be prevalent in this First Person Shooter (FPS). In addition to the title, we have also confirmed that the game is running on the same Zeus hardware as MK4.

The FPS genre has been tested before in the arcade, ironically by Atari Games, a fully owned subsidiary of Midway Games, now operating under the name, Midway Games West, with the game WAR: Final Assault.

As far as the whole "I Guess That's What You Get" line goes, it appears that it is a "WAR" cry coined by one of the Midway developers, John Vogel. We {till have no idea what the other images on noob.com have to do with the game other than to expect to see them in the game.

So there you go! The next question would be is if you’d like to see us cover THEGRID in addition to our regular MK content. Let us know what you think! Click on the discussion bubble next to the story title to join in the Kombative Discussion!

Update 4/29: Midway's Arcade Section has been updated with the listing of "The Grid" under the Coming Soon section
