Dave's Classics, has updated with information on the progress of MAME, an arcade emulator. The MAME team is hard at work trying to get Mortal Kombat functioning, and it looks like they're very close.
The team working on the William's game drivers (Mortal Kombat, Narc, etc), have made some great progress! Mortal Kombat is now fully playable, but there is a bug with the CMOS, so the high scores are not displayed. The graphics are nearly pefect as well. Also, Narc is now fully playable, but the autoerase chip is not correctly emulated, so there is some junk on the screen. Smash TV unfortunatley, is still a ways off, because you can only fire DOWN currently. Speed is also not very good. On a p2/266, its only getting about 16 FPS. This is mainly due to the fact that the processor being emulated is 40mhz. :P
It is not known if the Williams driver will be available in the next release of MAME, but keep your eye on Dave's Classics for the lastest word. Thanks Patrick McCarron.

It looks like Midway has jumped the Nintendo Color Gameboy bandwagon. In this press release, Midway commits to releasing in November NFL Blitz, Mortal Kombat(R) 4 and Rampage World Tour(TM) which will be followed later by San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing and double-packs Spy Hunter(R) & Moon Patrol(TM) and Defender & Joust, as well as the skateboard sim 720 degrees(TM). Here is the blurb about Mortal Kombat 4.
Mortal Kombat 4 - Released this summer on multiple platforms, MK4 continues the carnage that has captivated both the coin-op and home gaming community. This fight-to-the-finish slug-fest features fifteen characters including returning favorites Sub-Zero(TM), Sonya(R), Reptile(R), Jax(R) and Scorpion(TM). MK4 features interactive arenas with hand-to-hand battle, and the ability to steal their opponents weapons to use against them.

Dave's Classics, has updated with information on the progress of the Mortal Kombat MAME driver. MAME is a Multi Arcade Machine Emulator. The team is hard at work trying to get Mortal Kombat fully playable, and it looks like they're one step closer with the addition of idle detection. See the full story below:
The team at work on the 34010 based games has gotten idle detection working in all games now (this has to be done on a driver by driver basis). The games included in this are Smash Tv, Narc, and of course Mortal Kombat. The meaning of this is that they are very playable on the author's p2/266's (speed wise) but still not 100%. However, they still have some bugs that cause it to crash every now and then. Until this nasty crash bug is squashed, don't expect it to be in a MAME release.

Dave's Video Game Classics, has updated with information and pictures of the Mortal Kombat Emulation for MAME. The developers of the new 34010 series MAME driver posted pictures of Mortal Kombat along with other hit Midway games, some worked on by some of the MK production team, running under the emulator. The pictures speak for themselves. Keep up the good work guys. Read the whole story below:

Zsolt Vasvari, one of the members working on the 34010 game drivers for MAME has sent us some VERY impressive screen shots of the games. The games look darn near perfect now, and it should be available to all MAMEDEV members soon, and possibly included in a public beta release in the near future, although I don't know if it will make Beta 6's release. Click here to view the impressive screen shots. Games include: High Impact, Mortal Kombat, NARC, Smash TV, Strike Force, T2 Arcade, Total Carnage and Trog.
