Just thought we'd point out that updated their site again today. Their
gallery section now has 5 new AVI movie files showing some behind the scenes footage, an interview with Boon, and much more! As an added bonus, if you have a current version of
Internet Explorer, you'll hear a nifty wav on the main page

Here's an updated list of MK4 footage sites.

Boon has expanded upon his MK4 page with more info, 5 screenshots of
the game, and a pic of him and Beran working on MK4. He also gives details about what programs they used as well as what the MK4 Team members contributed to the game. Also, on the
main page, "Coming Soon: Kai" appears on the scrolling text Java applet.

Midway's MK4 site has grown immensely over the past several days. The latest additions are: (1) pictures from various
road tour stops
and (2) in their gallery section, 2 new MK4 screenshots. Screenshot #1 features Sonya vs Raiden and screenshot #2 features Quan Chi vs Sub-Zero
12:02 PM CST -
Fighter-Edge has recieved video footage of the new MK4 board revision. It appears that in this version Quan Chi can do some sort of piledriver against his opponent as well as jump and stomp on them several times. Other nuances were Sub-Zero's ice clone and it looks as if Fujin can slam his opponent to the ground after his levitation move. You can download the movie

Gamespot News now has 9 screenshots and 2 new movies. GS describes the new video in their story, including Sub-Zero's new ice clone graphics and new moves for Fujin and Quan Chi

Ed Boon has updated his page once again. This time, Ed reveals that the newest version of the MK4 software will be at
the MK4 Road Tour stop in Chicago tomorrow. Some of the new features include new moves for Quan Chi, Shinnok, and Raiden as well as two new playable characters: Kai and Reptile. Kai is supposedly the new boss of MK4 and although not much is known about him yet, you can be sure that we'll have correspondants on hand at the stop on Saturday to report on all the new findings.

I first want to apologize to everyone about the lack of updates this week. On Monday, I upgraded this server from a Intel 486DX2/66 with 8 megs of RAM, to a Cyrix 6x86 P200+ with 32 megs of EDO RAM. You can probably notice the increase of speed of the server in responding to requests. However, the clock got reset and I still haven't had the time to go up there and fix it to the correct time. (as you can see in the last modified date) To top it all off, my home computer's hard drive decided to fail on me and I haven't been able to update the page personally. I want to thank
TetterkeT for doing the necessary updates and tour locations. Anyways, all should be back to normal tonight. Thanks for your patience for hanging with us during our growing pains

Well, I guess there are plenty of people dying to see if they won a free MovieCD of Mortal Kombat The Movie. Instead of the original 2 copies going to be raffled off, there will be a third copy given away. The drawing will be held on the night of Sunday, August 10th. Winners will be notified by electronic mail on Monday, August 11th, and will have until Friday, August 15th, to respond with the inquired information. Good Luck

Once again Ed Boon has updated his web site with a few new tidbits of information. Apparently, he was misquoted and wanted to
make it clear that Kai is not the boss of MK4. Also, Ed's scrolling text message has changed to reveal that Kitana will not be making an appearance in this installment of MK.

The MK4 Road Tour made a stop in Chicago yesterday. One of the interesting things discovered was that the 'HIDDEN' tab on the character select screen allows you to choose your character secretly by removing the flashing border. This is useful against players who wait to see who you pick, thus giving them a possible advantage in the match. Check out
for all the pics and info

Believe it or not, we have just recieved never seen before footage from the MK4 Road Tour. You won't find this stuff at any other site in the WWW. Without further ado, here's our exclusive footage

Two more screenshots of the game and more road tour pictures were added to the
site late last evening. The screenshots are very high quality, however, they don't yield any information about the game that we didn't already know..

There have been 2 new tour pictures added to our collection. One is a good quality shot of the new character select screen
and the other is the continue screen with
a close up of Scorpion falling. These images were graciously donated

Upon calling Diversions arcade at approximately 11:55pm last night, I
was told that they had "just got [MK4] up and running." The gentleman on the other end of the phone also mentioned that they were, in fact, testing the game there. MK4 should show up at Enchanted Castle and Just For Fun today as well, yet there is no concrete evidence that it will. So, if you live in the Chicago area, visit one of these arcades and play to your heart's content. Thanks to
sven for the tip-off

Shinnok's "Impersonation" moves sound very promising. I felt I was going to be screwed with this installment of MK, since my two favorite
characters (Baraka & Shang Tsung) were not going to be returning. I was told by road tour crew members at the
Milpitas stop that there was a good chance that there would be no more morphing characters in the saga due to persistent bugs. I can't wait to see this feature of the game and Shinnok will probably be my new favorite. Thanks Boon!

Ed Boon has updated the
MK4 section
of his web site with some pictures taken at Diversions arcade in Chicago on Friday evening. So far there are 12 playable characters: Fujin, Kai, Liu Kang, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Shinnok, Sonya, Sub-Zero, and Tanya. Boon also notes other features that will be added to the game:

- Final version will have 12 playable characters
- 3 hidden characters (released via Ultimate Kombat Kodes)
- "The Prison" background
- The Spiked Klub weapon
- Group Select
- Shinnok's "Impersonation" moves
- Reptile's Super krawl move

It has been confirmed by a Midway employee that MK4 has been pulled from the Diversions Arcade in Chicago. Diversions has been the exclusive test site for Mortal Kombat 3 & 4. The reasons for its removal are still not known. However, there are rumors that someone posing from Diversions' staff ridiculed the game. Originally posted at MK Extreme.

It seems like I have been neglecting the Printable MK4 Moves Page, along with many other things. Soon I will have a new computer and all my problems will be resolved. I did everything I could to keep this FAQ on one page, and soon there will be no way that you can fit everything on one page, so get it while you can. :-

In case the only arcade you knew about in Chicago was Diversions, here are the other MK4 test sites in the Chicago area.

Midway updated last night with some new high quality stills of Reptile and Kai. They are both holding weapons that they currently don't have in the betas in Chicago, so this might be a clue to the final weapon configurations. Reptile is seen with Shinnok's Bladed Staff and Kai is shown with dual small blades.

Today Ed updated his page with some new info about the test versions. He said that Noob will be removed and replaced by a member of Kano's Black Dragon Organization, but Noob will be later accessible via UKK. Ed had mentioned this to someone when he showed up last Tuesday at Just For Fun, but we thought it to be another one of his jokes

The MK4 Beta at Just For Fun is now dated the 22nd, and some new stuff was added. Here is what we've been told is in the new version:

- Living Forest and stage with a spot light sorta following you added (Prison Stage)
- Noob now carries a spiked club
- Tanya now also carries Sonya's "Garden Weasel" (as Shao puts it)
- Shinnok had his Impersonation moves -- he doesn't change shape but he gains his opponents moves when he does them

Thanks to ShaoKahn for the info about the new version. We will be sending someone down later today to check it out

An upgrade for the beta versions of MK4 has been released today, accompanied by new stuff on Ed Boon's
page. Here
you can find a very good quality image of the newest version of the select screen featuring Tanya and two screenshots featuring the
Prison Stage. Ed also mentioned that these pictures will be featured
on a few of his personal favorite MK related web sites... We're hoping he'll keep us in mind. :) Finally, Ed reveals that Kai is out and will be replaced by Ryu (from the SF series)!!! Relax guys, it's only a joke..

Jason has informed us that there is an empty MK4 cabinet at Tilt in the Lloyd Center Mall in Portland, Oregon. Usually arcades get empty cabinets first, then the board is shipped directly from Midway. This is the first sign of MK4 outside of Illinois, since the Road Tour. Could this be the beginning of MK4 going national?
12:01 PM CST -
Empty MK4 Cabinets have been popping up around the country. This may be part of a 30 day area exclusive for the game, we think it's where only certain arcades across the US will get a pre-release version. We've also noticed that most places getting the machines are Tilt arcades. They are also mentioning that they should be getting the boards for the game this weekend, but there has been problems with bugs and hardware that could have pushed the date back, but it is still very possible.
