TRMK's Ed Boon Interview about MKX

We were lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with a very busy Ed Boon at E3 last week to discuss Mortal Kombat X. In the interview Ed discusses lots of different topics with us. Including teasing a "character from MK4" as well as a "new ality" which will be revaled later.
TRMK: Fans expect this game to follow the storyline of MK4 and beyond, but it looks like you are taking the story in another direction. Will fans see some familiar faces from the series they haven’t seen yet in MK9?

Ed Boon: You will definitely see a Mortal Kombat 4 character, I believe that's the first time I've said that. You will also see some of the later game's fighters. You'll also see cameo's in the story mode. Some really fun ones.

Be sure to read the whole interview for even more information. Also stay tuned for more Mortal Kombat X information from E3 from us in the coming days as we build out our Mortal Kombat X Gamespace.

Kiefer Sutherland is NOT in Mortal Kombat X

After hinting at this previously on Twitter Ed Boon publically confirms that Kiefer Sutherland is not in Mortal Kombat X on the Giant Bomb Live Post E3 show last Thursday evening. Around the 9 minute mark there is a conversation about Kiefer's lack of dialog in Metal Gear Solid and then it turns to Ed who is asked "Is Kiefer Sutherland in Mortal Kombat?" to which he replies: “No he’s not. He actually is not.”

Watch the segment below to hear for yourself, you want to fast forward to the 9 minute mark.

This matches up with what I've heard from many people since the rumor first broke. I still believe he was talking about Call of Duty that he did years ago and he simply said the wrong thing. Surprising that IGN ran this story without any fact checking, as they've been stellar with their news sources as of late.

Karen Strassman also not in Mortal Kombat X

Last issue it was revealed that Karen Strassman, the voice actress for both Kitana and Mileena, had "Mortal Kombat 2" on her resume. It appears, according to a post on Facebook, that she doesn't know anything about this project and may not be involved in Mortal Kombat X afterall. You can read the quote in it's entirey below:

People have been asking me about the upcoming Mortal Kombat -- I haven't as of yet been contacted about this new project, so I'm afraid I don't know anything more about it. Best wishes to all, ~Karen.

So it seems there is a rash of people who really wanted to be involved project, but actually are not at all. Very strange.

Mortal Kombat X on @Midnight

Last Wednesday, Mortal Kombat X also made an appearance on the TV game show @Midnight. It was a question for their segment Rapid Refresh and showed some of the fatalities from the game. Watch the clip of the show below:

You can also click here to watch the episode in full. It's one of the funniest shows on TV right now, so I recommend it highly.

Meaning of D'vorah

Many have asked about the meaning of the new character's names. Not much is known, but it was found out that D'vorah is another spelling of the name Deborah. Both of which actually are the hebrew word for bee. This is something I heard about at E3 but also saw today on Reddit so I figured I'd share because it's interesting.

it funny D'vorah or Deborah is a heroine and prophetess who leads the Israelites to defeat Canaanites but in mkx she so not so i wonder if she going to anti-hero/neutal fighter because nothing from her that screams she villen granted i don't know her story yet. i also believe Karen telling the truth because on resume it said Mortal Kombat 2 not x so people took it as the sequel which it isn't i still believe she will be in the game either as dlc for kitanna and as playable as mileena or just as cameo for kitanna and mileena and have them as dlc later on also i don't if anybody notice this but the new dragon look means changing of the guard aka passing the torch from one mortal kombat to another generation of mortal kombat

Thanks a lot, I loved your interview... All those videogames websites don´t know anything about Mk so they don´t make the correct questions, but your interview was simply awesome!!!!

Ahah... D'Vorah = Deborah = Bee... it's great to know it ! Thanks ! This is an awesome Character, and an "Instant Classic" ! Her fan-base is huge, after only a few days ! I can add that, in french speaking, D'Vorah is the word for "Devour"... which is also a great meaning !! If there is no Black or Red Dragon member in MKX, she will become my main, right after Sub-Zero

Dick punching confirmed? Someone needs to punch that douchebag in the dick. Just as annoying, if not more annoying than the hip-hop gamer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1ShQQNZXj0

^ I think he was the only one who said MKX would release "early" 2015 opposed to "sometime" in 2015 by Ed Boon and others.

It's her X-Ray. She nut punches the victim, if it's a guy you see their balls bust (OWWW!). Then she smashes them in the face with her two pistols and then finishes off with shooting the pistols into each of their eyes.

I know that it's her X-Ray, but my point is that that's the only thing that they guy took from the interview? He titled the video "Dick punch confirmed," and while that's true, there's more to the interview than JUST that. LOL

Serious question.....people really believed Kiefer would be in it (voice)? I mean, not trying to sound like LOL I KNOW ALL, but, I dunno, I never took that seriously at all, lol.

Especially when this was all the proof they provided: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/22/24-star-kiefer-sutherland-involved-in-mortal-kombat-game They video taped that interview, but never showed that clip of the interview? It's always been suspect to me, and IGN has a glorious track record as of late.
