Who shot first?

Remember the scene from the fourth episode of star wars between Han Solo and Greedo in which Han shoots and kills Greedo? Well I wanted to start this topic because I want to hear what some people on TRMK have to say on this matter. I think that Greedo shot first and Han got lucky because Greedo was kind of a bad shot.

In the theatrical cut, Greedo never shot at all. It's dumb question because there is only one real answer. Ever since the home video releases in the '80s, Lucas has re-edited the footage, adding Greedo's shot, and eventually to the point of where we have them now, with Han shooting at the same time as Greedo. It's a lame chop-job in order to 'humanize' Han as a clean-cut good-guy from the get-go, and it eliminates a good portion of his character development. He starts the story as a ruthless cutthroat for hire, and finishes a genuine hero. This malarkey with adding in Greedo's shot to make it 'self-defense' is bullcrap.

Case closed.

It's been a long time since I seen Star Wars, but from what I remember it was an ugly situation from the get-go. If Greedo shot first, I don't see how he could miss from close proximity. Han would he least been wounded in that situation. Granted, this is also a film where most of the bad guys seem seem to miss their mark more often than not, but suspension of disbelief can only go so far.

I agree with both of you. This is a fact. Han shot first in the original cut. Greedo shot first in the remastered version. Only the real of the real Star Wars fans know this.
