Soon-to-be released DLC thoughts...

First off, in reading this, please don't be simple minded, and just think about what YOU want out of MK...and try to realize what the MAJORITY of MK fans want, and what makes the most actual sense. Alright, so we know we're getting MK2 Smoke & Noob with the Kenshi download. We aslo know we're getting an additional 2 klassic skins, with the Rain DLC. But which characters would those klassic skins be for? I'm betting the 2 klassic skins, will be for MK2 Raiden & MK2 Kung Lao...seeing as those appear to be requested a lot of the time. Next after that, we can be expecting the "???" DLC, which I'm thinking is gonna be HUGE...I don't care who thinks it's going to be Reiko, Fujin, or whoever...I promise you, it's NOT going to be any of those characters. NRS is not gonna continue to just introduce characters that will be lined up for future games. In saying that, I guarantee the "???" DLC character will be Cyber Smoke. Along with human Smoke and Rain, Cyber Smoke is right up there as one of the most favorite and requested characters (I prefer human Smoke personally)...he's not gonna just be a skin for an existing robot, but they're gonna have to create a whole new character, like they did for Cyber Sub-Zero. They changed the story, so that Sub-Zero turned into a robot instead of Smoke...but c'mon, they're basing EVERYTHING off of MK1-3...and there's NO WAY they're gonna leave out Cyber Smoke, cause after MK9 they're not gonna bring back anything (costume wise) from MK1-3, so this will be their only chance to do this. By making Cyber Smoke a DLC, they can give the fans what they want, without having to change the new story. PLUS, if it was gonna be any other character besides him, there would be absolutely NO reason they'd list it as "???"...those other characters aren't as special or important to THIS game. SO, now that we know it's gonna be Cyber Smoke...do we think he's going to have klassic skins along with him as well? I'm guessing yes, and I'm guessing that there will be ALL of the klassic MK3 ninja outfits. Again, SO many people are requesting the MK3 ninja outfits, and NRS is giving everybody what they want this time. I think they're gonna give us all of 'em at once, for the simple fact that they're not gonna wanna drag on DLC for forever, especially if they're gonna start working on MK10 or a different project. So I think it'll be the final DLC, so that they can move on to what's next. You may think what you want, and think I'm wrong...but hear me, when all of what I just said comes to be true, remember that you heard it here first:)

As he is to A LOT of people, if you REALLY stop and think about everything I said, it all really makes sense, that that's probably their game-plan.
 
Yea I hope that the ??? character is Cyber Smoke after Rain is released Cyber Smoke is the only one absent in MK9 from trilogy (besides Motaro) seeing as how Cyber Sub Zero takes the place of MK3 Sub Zero

OP, you do have a point about everything. Well thought-out post. If Cyber Smoke and MK3 retro ninjas came out I would be very happy. Those two are probably the two things I want most for DLC.
 
Agreed, man. After all the hype that Kenshi and Rain are getting, the best business strategy is to give players something "even better" to look forward too. People are pumped up for Rain, so what comes next? A crossover? Some minor character like Kai? I don't think so. Something "even better" than Rain in this progression of DLC would be Cyber Smoke, as a full fledged character. I'm sure they can work a story out, after all, it's MK.
 
first of all , why are you asking if we'll get more skins with Rain and ??? ? they already stated that the four characters will have 2 klassic skins each.

second, it doesn't make sense to use ??? for cyber Smoke because he's already known. that means, if it is cyber Smoke , I'll be happy cause I'm a fan but disappointed for this market trick to keep us excited. my bet though is that it's most likely a brand new character (hopefully) or a guest character (hope not).

third, the UMK3 ninja outfits have to be seven. if they do make those, they'll probably make a pack of them all or split them somehow, as in get 3x UMK3 for 3 male ninjas plus 3-4 more skins for others and then another pack later on for the remaining ninjas and a bunch of others with it.

as for the klassic skins, I think they'll now focus on sonya/kano/jax/cage/raiden/shang tsung. four of those, probably

Actually it could be true but if there are other costumes then the two costumes you mentioned, then they will probably released later in another classic costume pack, because the first classic costume pack was titled "Mortal Kombat: Classic Costume Pack #1" and not "Mortal Kombat: Classic Costume Pack", therefore implying that more will come later on.

Could be true but if they release Fujin, Reiko or other character then maybe Cyber Smoke will come later.

Yes that's also true and he is the last non-boss character which is missing from Mortal Kombat 1-3 and I am sure they will include him if not as the ??? character than later in the second character batch or maybe in the third character batch.

In my opinon they will give him the bio that even if he escaped the transformation process in the end he couldn't escape the fangs of Lin Kuei and giving him an ending like: "Like his friend Sub-Zero he discovered his soul again and stood with his friend against the Lin Kuei" or something like that.

I agree with you on that, now it's the last chance to bring any MK 1-3 related things. NRS would be stupid if they don't bring out all costumes and stages as DLC. It could be done very fast and with less amount of work than by creating a new game. They would waste a lot of money if they didn't do it. Furthermore they wanted to support the game for a long time with DLC, as they said on many occasions.

I don't think they will release them all at once but they will surely release it, that's for sure and I am thinking they will release all MK1-MK3 outfits for every characters, the ninjas are just palette swaps and the other ones are just the MK9 characters with small changes. Everybody wants classic characters and nostalgia and this is a pot o' gold for NRS. I am sure there will be Mortal Kombat: Classic Costume Pack #2,#3 and even #4 and #5. To making skins is much easier than to make a whole new character with animations and fatalities and introduction and winning poses. So the costumes will definitely come I am pretty sure of it.

I don't see it this way, that this DLC will be the final DLC. First of all you don't need all employees to work on DLC. Second they would forfeiting their chance to make an huge amount of money by not making DLC and finally even if they are going to work on MK10 they will order some of their employees to make DLC just to hold another channel of money alive, business is business after all :)
 
Maybe we'll get the UMK3 spandex-ninjas? Though what would be really nice is if they stopped with "klassic ninjas" and went for some new alternates.

Plus ya'll seem to be forgetting that after Rain they'll be dropping one more "new mysterious character".

They are saying the New Mysterious Character is Cyber Smoke.
 
Yeah the costumes with "Mystery guy" can't be the UMK3 costumes because the Xbox Live Dashboard ad did specify 8 Klassic Skins along with the 4 new characters, so we've got only 4 left now and 2 of those are packaged with Rain.

And I semi-agree with your Cyber Smoke theories. Everything about how this entire game is NRS' last chance of recreating CSmoke is true. But that also means he can be added LATER as DLC.

Finally, I don't really understand your argument about Smoke being more important to hide as a shadow than say Fujin or Tanya. My guess is that this character is a brand new character or a forgotten one like Hornbuckle and Belokk. The ad did specify that the character was a new entrant to the Mortal Kombat Tournament, Smoke doesn't fulfill this criteria IMO.

Look why would NRS make cyber smoke a whole new character. i would in all honesty think it would be better if cyber smoke was just another outfit for smoke. That way we have a kombatant to look forward too as the ??? and not a outfit.

However i may be totally wrong. Look what they did to sub zero. They made cyber sub zero a individual kombatant with his own fatality's and even some of his own moves. so it is possible cyber smoke will have his own fatalitys and stuff like that.

Now personally i think this ??? character will be fujin or reiko. He has been highly requested god knows how many times. And i can see tanya making a return as she is the same. :D
