So- a lot of you helped me get better with my mileena, I was hoping there would be a group of Skarlet players on here that could help me get better with her as well.
I love the concept of Skarlet, as well as her playstyle. But, I just cannot seem to figure her out. I know bits and pieces of a few of her custom combos, but they seem to start out too slow for me to ever be able to use them.
I understand that Skarlet is seen as a difficult character to play, but I feel like when somebody DOES figure her out she's beastly, haha.
She may not be the best character for somebody whose new to the MK series like me to attempt to learn, just because of how technical she is, but I'd like to try anyways.
so if anybody has any sort of advice, tips, or anything, it would be greatly appreciated!!
THanks so much guys <3 <3 :D

I'm trying really REALLY hard to keep going with her, she's so bad ass (Minus the annoying as hell "Yiah!") and I feel like there's a lot of potential there, it's just figuring out how I could unlock said potential...XD

You need a lot of work on your execution. If you really want to learn Skarlet right now (I wouldn't recommend it, she's pretty execution heavy for mk, at this point you should be working on your fundamentals more than anything) I suggest that you learn your combos and blockstrings in parts, that way you don't overwhelm yourself.

Yea, What Kzaoo said.

Kyriann, it's best not to hop from character to character while learning the game. Dedicate a month or a few weeks to your main character (In this case Mileena) build up your fundamentals and then when you feel as if you've mastered or have a good understanding of Mileena, move on then. I'm trying to pick uo Sonya now and omg.. my execution is so ass in MK ATM, the game feels so clunky and limited compared to SF so switching between the two is so hard for me.

I hope all characters are harder in the next game, a couple can stay the same such as Skarlet.

Go to the Skarlet thread if you want help, that's the best place for it. Also maybe check into getting Tom Brady's Living Guide, it's well-worth it.

Haha thanks for all the replies guys.
I honestly hope that they keep her the same difficulty in the next game, yeah she's a to learn, but I've always felt much more pride when I become good with the difficult characters in fighting games haha.
I guess I'll stick with Mileena like iVital suggested until I get a better understanding of the fundamentals/basics and just kind of give up for now on learning her haha. Choosing such an execution heavy character for my second main in my first mk game was probably not a brilliant idea to begin with..XD

It's best to stay dedicated to one character before branching off, I played Mileena for about 2 months straight until I picked up Sub Zero.

One of the coolest things about maining a new character is that some of the new things you learn, you can apply it to your other Main(s). for example Sub Zero and Mileena, I kinda played a more rush down oriented Mileena and didn't care about spacing and playing footsies but once I switched over to Sub I had to learn how to control certain spots on the screen with Zoning because his Rush down isn't the best in the game. So I realized the importance of Space control and playing Lame from Sub and transfered over to my Mileena gameplay and since then my Mileena is stronger than what it used to be, Maybe about 3 weeks later I picked up Scorpion.. He taught me the importance of playing footsies to get the upper hand over my opponent and commit them into making mistakes. So each additional character you pick up later on in your career you learn something new because they all don't play the same. I doubt you will read all of this but this is my story (Kinda lol).

Good luck out there man, and have fun.

Haha- I read everything, I'm one of those people..xD
No matter what kind of game I play I've always been considered an alt-oholic, back in my MMO days I would have a good 7-8 characters that I would switch between lol, none of which were max level.
The same has always been true with fighting games, while most people get super amazingly good with just one character at a time, I always end up getting adequate with like..5 at a time XD. That's something I'm desperately trying to break myself of in MK haha, but I still have a few slip ups every now and then XD

It's ok man, I'm doing to same thing in SSF4:AE <_<

I can't decide on sticking with Cammy or Sakura, and Lol I'm glad you read all of it. :]

Think about it this way, for every character you learn you need to learn another 30 matchups. It does get easier after you know what the characters can do and stuff, but thats a lot of stuff to learn whilst your already learning the game.

Yeah you're right haha. From just playing around though it seems the only characters I'm somewhat decent with are the female ones..XD (Mileena, Kitana, Sindel, Skarlet) XD Is that normal?? lmao.
Also- when people select "yes" on the rematch screen, are you supposed to pick a new character, or is it deemed "okay" to just stick with the one you beat them with?? lol

If you're playing tournament rules, Winner stays and loser can either change or stay with the same character and dude Female fighters > Male fighters All day.

Mileena

lol that's always been my thinking! Good to know I'm not the only one. In every soul calibur game I ever played I ended up only being good with the females lol. It's not even because they're females...The chica characters have just always seemed to fit my style more hahaha.
