After the fall of the Black Dragon, caused by Kano's capture in Outworld and Kabal's abandonment, Kano sought refuge in China. For from the Special Force's eagle eyes. He began an underground fighting circuit in an attempt to regain the Black Dragon's lost pride.
Many warriors; young, old, rich and poor fought under the promise of immense riches, but all failed when they came face to face with Kano himself. He was making money and finding recruits for the Black Dragon's revival.
Everything was going perfectly for Kano, until a curse walked into his life, in the form of a young Mongolian man. This man said he had no name, saying only that he was sent by God himself.
Kano shook off this freak's strange words, thinking he would die quickly in the fights.
The man was an animal, a controlled rage fueled his fights. Kano noticed a strange thing about this fighter, he would ruthlessly slaughter those he saw wicked; thieves, murderers and other deviants.
But spared those who, he thought, fought for righteous causes; family debts, necessity and things of the sort. Fearing he was no match for this man and feeling he had enough money/recruits to successfully revive the Black Dragon, Kano disbanded the tournament when it was their time to fight.
Instead he rewarded the man the place of second in command of the Black Dragon. A title once worn by Kabal, now belonged to Hsu Hao. The name was given to him by Kano, it meant Rushed Roar. He thought it fit his fighting style perfectly.
A few years years passed since then. Kano convinced Hsu Hao that the Black Dragon were liberators, heroes who were dedicated to dismantling all Western influence over China. Hsu Hao supported this idea greatly.
But on a special mission, Hsu Hao's dedication was tested.
The Special Forces were weakened by the loss of Jax, Kano felt as if the final nail needed to be slammed into their coffin.
With Johnny Cage in Seido, Kano and Hsu Hao traveled to Sonya Blade's home. As they snuck in, Kano whispered to Hsu Hao "Take of the b!tch, the brat is mine". Hao couldn't control his anger, he loudly questioned Kano as to how the death of a child would help their cause.
Sonya rushed down stairs and attacked the intruder, not noticing Kano who was hidden from her view. Kano quickly made his way to the child's room to complete the grim task. Hsu Hao tried to explain to Sonya what was happening, but couldn't due to her onslaught of attacks.
When Kano was finished, he left Hsu to die at the hands of Sonya. Hao broke free of her grasp and knocked her out with one mighty clap of his hands.
Kano would pay for this most heinous of treacheries, Hsu Hao would make sure of it.
Though Kano made it back to Black Dragon headquarters days before Hsu Hao did, Hsu Hao was not far behind. He found Kano unguarded in the war room. Hsu crept up on him and shoved the knife given to him by Kano, right through the back of his neck.
As he fell to the ground, Hao made a horrid realization, the man was not Kano. It was Jarek, bound and gagged wearing Kano's garbs. Kano appeared behind him, along with a plethora of Black Dragon soldiers.
A rage that Hsu Hao had not felt for years returned. He tore through their ranks. As he stood over Kano's mangled body, he recanted the quote of a great and powerful man
“I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.”
It was there Hsu Hao revealed his true identity, when Kano brought sin and corruption to a peaceful Mongolian village, Ghengis Kahn's soul ascended from the Netherrealm and took the form of a nameless man to bring a stop to Kano's dark ways. Gaining Kano's trust was only to make his deception even more painful
But Kano was spared, Hsu Hao knew the father of the child Kano slew would bring an unimaginable pain to him when the time came.
Unfortunately, Hsu Hao was a primary factor in the child's death. Before he can find peace in the afterlife, he must atone for his sins. He forms the Red Dragon clan. A clan dedicated to the ancient nomadic ways of the Mongolians.
They traveled the lands, uprooting all they saw unfit for their lands.
