Quan Chi Render from MK vs DCU DLC Revealed

Today on Twitter, Mortal Kombat co-creator <b>Ed Boon</b> <a href="http://twitpic.com/9lqem">revealed a render of Quan Chi</a> from the unreleased/cancelled downloadable content (DLC) for the 2008 game <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/">Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe</a>. The other character that <a href="http://twitter.com/noobde/status/2304910912">was to be released</a> via DLC is DC Comic's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley_Quinn">Harley Quinn</a>. Here is what Ed had to say:

<a href="http://twitter.com/noobde/status/2304910912">Ed previously stated that the DLC was nearly complete</a>, but we are to believe it's release is unlikely due to the team focusing on <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/">Mortal Kombat 9</a>. The exact reason for the cancellation of the DLC is unknown, but it's likely to be because of Midway's financial situation with the bankruptcy proceedings and the cost of further testing and publication & certification of the DLC with Sony and Microsoft. Also, Warner Bros. was on the list of companies Midway owed money, which probably didn't help with the cause much.

With <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/12650/midway_officially_a_part_of_warner_bros.html">Warner Bros. now owning Midway</a>, it is likely that any legal obstacles for the DLC's release have been removed. So it is feasible that it may get released if demand is high enough to warrant it and Midway can allocate resources to do the remaining work needed. Let your voices be heard in the <a href="http://www.trmk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12658">comments on the story in the forums</a>, and maybe we can get the DLC in our hands one day.

I dont really understand why they cant just release Quan and Quinn. Sure, they'd be broken, but the game already is too.

Oh well I would have bought the DLC on both consoles too.
 
Damn, it feels like rubbing salt in the wounds. But, with WB owning Midway, then maybe DLC will come. I'd love for it to come. Harley Quinn was something that my girlfriend really wanted (She's a Harley fan), and while Quan Chi isn't my favorite MK character of all time, I still liked him enouch to be a buyer at minute one.

Hopefully, DLC will come...
 
Well demand certainly isn't high from me. Unless it's Lobo, I'd buy Lobo. Right now I just want to see something from MK9. Plus, considering MKvDC is what, 8 months old now, I don't think there's much benefit in releasing DLC now. I've always thought DLC is only useful on a popular game that has a lengthy campaign and can add to it (see Fable II) or a game with an extensive online user base (see CoD4, Killzone 2, Halo, etc). And there are a few games where DLC is just so perfect for it (see Little Big Planet).

I don't think MKvDC really needs it, especially since it's pretty much dead already.
 
I don't particularly care about DLC either at this point. Noob, Smoke, maybe Reptile or Mileena, but otherwise, nah. It would be late enough as it is, and with MK9 on the horizon, I'd much rather focus on that.
 
That render pic looks very cool.
Quan Chi is s one of my favourite charakters.

I ask Ed if he can released a render pic of Harley Quinn too but he sayed he need a permission of DC.

that pic doesnt look any different from the videos in the story mode.i guess that version of him has a move set though.but it doesnt matter to me because i allready ****ing sold it!Im kind of pissed because harley would be tight but oh well.i need another beat em up game.was that talk about one that follows quan chi bull?
 
Well this is a character render. None of the other characters look different from how THEY are in the cutscenes. This isn't even some "version" of the character, just an official picture.
 
well if a dlc only applies to owners of the game what the **** is a 'release' for?They think we havent beat the mother****er yet after all this god damn time.No I get it, because all the characters had hi res s that we could beat off to.Nethertheless that prick was in the ****ing game this render has probly been prepared before the game even came out.They should have released the picture back when the game came out.Dumb
 
What I don't understand is why he has the amulet on his belt. Since this is set between MK2 and 3 (according to Boon) he shouldn't even have met the MK kombatants canonically. And even if he had somehow, he didn't reveal that he kept the real amulet until after MK4 and I doubt he'd want to piss off Shinnok by carrying it around everywhere.
 
Probly because MK vs DC is more like a 'what if' story.No rules in a 'what if'.Anyway the story appears to be the most recent event in the mortal kombat realms, it just happens to star charcters from 1 and 2 primarly.With the exeption of that pale bald dude from 4.
