Now, before the "boo hoo-ing" of the "Uncle Ben story being retold in Amazing Spiderman was dumb" blah, blah, blah begins, I'll just add my 2 cents and say that when ANY movie franchise is being started up from "scratch," a retelling of the story is not bad at all and even possible.

In some cases you can skip the whole dead parents / relatives thing (The Dark Knight), but not in the case of Spiderman, as it is vital to the character's development.

That being said:
Consider this, as well, that this time they also told you more about Peter Parkers father, and even though this year's movie says "Amazing" Spiderman in the title, the movie itself does take place in more of an ULTIMATE Universe type setting.

With Amazing Spiderman taking place in more of an Ultimate setting, do you think Jamie Foxx is a good candidate for the role of Electro (Ultimate Universe)???
What do you guys think?

The problem with my opinion is that I am biased because I utterly hate Jamie Foxx.

He looks the part, though.

My opinion can't be formed on this yet, because I have yet to see his more serious roles.
I wanted to see the movie Ray, but never got a chance.
Might just rent it one of these days.

I'm just wondering if more people have seen his serious movies and think he would be a good fit.
I definitely agree with you, though, Jade.
He does LOOK the part. ;)

saw this a few weeks back
immediately imagined him in a dorky yellow/green spandex suit.

But yea, he fits this better Electro. Might turn out cool. Cant wait for the new movie.

Yeah, I thought the same, but I've noticed that Amazing Spiderman had more of an Ultimate Universe feel to it, especially in the beginning of the movie with his father, and the whole Flash Thompson deal with Peter Parker.

Flash Thompson wasn't really that prevalent in the Amazing Universe as he was in the Ultimate Universe.
The Ultimate Universe also has more of a realistic feel to it, rather than supernatural.
Not dark-and-gritty but just more realistic, if that makes sense.
In some of the later comics he even becomes a Venom super-soldier (after Eddie Brock of course), which being a Venom fanatic, I'd be ÜBER pissed if they went that direction for the films.
Eddie Brock is still the best version of Venom, whether it's the Amazing or Ultimate Universe.

He was good in his serious roles like jar head, collateral and law abiding citizen so his acting and looks are there. It will be kinda strange seeing him in a comic book movie though. Overall I think he's a good choice. Give it a chance cause I never thought I would find Channing Tatum funny until I saw 21 jump street. Sometimes people surprise you.
