Oh, hey! Team Fortress has some great news! First off, Meet the Medic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36lSzUMBJnc&feature=feedlik

Secondly, TEAM FORTRESS 2 IS FREE FOR EVERYONE!!
http://teamfortress.com/

Yes, you heard me right. Valve opened up the flood gates and is now letting anyone download the game FOR FREE! Steam servers are already crashing and its making it very hard for me to get a game in. But just wanted to let everyone know about this good news!

Re: Team Fortress 2 MAJOR UPDATE

why didnt I notice this thread before? Tf2 is one of my favorite games.

I'm still a bit unsure about it being FTP now though. Its not that I am an elitist like most of the comunity, I actually like that its free, Its just I feel like this is a sign of Valve letting the game go and fade away. Some say the game is ruined now, some say it was ruined when they added hats.
either way, the game has had some drastic changes in ever since the trading update.

I'm just going to try and enjoy it while I can, the more players the better, yes there is a flock of noobs but hopefully they can adapt. I say this game has had a long and successfull run, but maybe its time for a Team Fortress 3?

Re: Team Fortress 2 MAJOR UPDATE

Too many noobs now...
Also, after the last update the game became too laggy..

Re: Team Fortress 2 MAJOR UPDATE

I've pretended that this update didnt bother me, but It really does now. I can live with the noob players, but I can already tell valve is neglecting this game. It's contantly glitching where the servers never show up in the list for hours, the profile pictures always dissapear, and so do weapons. Drop rates are screwed up. Crafting has been changed for the noob crowd now. Alot is wrong now.

Technical Difficulties always happen right after an update, but never this long. The Downward spiral of TF2 has begun. Like I said before I believe this is Valve letting this game go. But I cant see why because this is their main game. They dont give 2 shits about Left 4 dead content. So I dont know where their attention will go. My only hope is that they are developing a TF3.

Re: Team Fortress 2 MAJOR UPDATE

I only played twice since the huge update, I did not notice any lag whatsoever. Love the new advanced options with the hit counts. Yeah see a lot more people running in the wrong direction. It is pretty cool it is free, because I still have my two year old badge! Would have had it from day one but got it on Xbox. I used to be a huuuuge TFC junkie.

Team Fortress 2

I know I'm extremely late on getting the game AND I play it on Xbox 360, not Steam like a boss 8-)

But anyway I figure I make a thread for all the people who still play it (And I'm bored)! Well it is free on Steam, but my computer is too horrible to handle it, causing me much lag and frustration so I just picked up the Orange Box for Xbox 360. But if you have a good pc you should definitely download the game because it is the best class based FPS game out there.

My favorite thing about Team Fortress 2 is that it really forces you to work as a team, unlike other games like Call of Duty where you can go lone wolf and still get a lot of work done. With the inclusion of things like sentry guns and the class system, your team really needs to devise a strategy in order to defeat the enemy.

The Classes:

Scout: Scout is my favorite class because I enjoy his amazing speed and his weapon, the Scattergun. It forces you to get up close for maximum damage which also puts you in a danger zone because of his lower health. I use the pistol to get rid of enemies at long range or just to finish someone off. The Scout can also double jump in order to navigate the map quicker than anyone else.

Heavy: The Heavy is just straight up brute force. He carries around a huge gattling gun that can make quick work of close enemies. He also carries a shotgun in case they retreat and he packs the most health out of all the characters. The downside is that he is very slow so it's hard to retreat if needed and he works the best with the Medic class.

Engineer: I love and hate the Engineer. He is definitely one of the most used classes because he has the ability to construct sentry guns, teleporters, and dispensers that provide teammates with health and ammo. The engineer needs metal to construct things which can be obtained from dropped weapons and built dispensers. He only has 125 health like the scout so he isn't good for head on combat, causing most engineers to stay behind and just tend to their built stuff.

Pyro: The Pyro is annoying because SHE (yes I said she) carries a flamethrower, making her the best close range fighter. She is used for ambushing because the fire from the flamethrower causes initial damage and afterburn if her victim retreats. She also carries a shotgun in case the enemy retreats beyond her flamethrower's range. Obviously she is not a good far range fighter.

(Note: Valve has not released a Meet the Pyro trailer so this is a one created by Machinima. Valve, I am disappoint.)

Sniper: The sniper well...snipes of course. He carries a bolt action sniper and a machine pistol for close encounters but I really don't use him because people are constantly moving in Team Fortress 2 so it is hard for me to pull off a headshot except on like a Heavy.

Soldier: The soldier is a all around good class because he carries the health and firepower to get things done. He is equipped with a rocket launcher for short-medium range fighting (long range if you're a good shot) and a shotgun. The rocket launcher can also be used to rocket jump to higher places. So he can handle all situations well, but not excellently.

Demoman: I can't use the Demoman if my life depended on it because his primary and secondary are explosive weapons. He has a grenade launcher that can fire these explosives that can bounce off walls and he has a sticky bomb launcher that can be remote detonated. People usually stick the bombs around corners and on ceilings so when enemies enter they explode. I can't aim at all with the grenade launcher and I have no patience for the stickies.

Spy: The spy is my second favorite character to use because he has so many things. He has a cloaking device that makes him invisible, a device that lets him disguise as the enemy, a revolver, a sapper that lets him destroy things built by Engineers, and a knife that can get instant-kill backstabs. People who use the spy usually cloak to get behind the enemy and then they will disguise themselves and then try to get backstabs for kills. A good spy knows how to disguise but a horrible one will make it obviously that he is not who he really is.

Medic: The Medic is just plain awesome. He is a German doctor that carries around a healing device and a syringe gun for combat. The healing gun is used to heal teammates (especially heavies) and give them an extra boost of health. The Medic also has a Ubercharge meter that when filled can rant him and his partner temporary invincibility which is usually used on heavies. A stupid medic will use it on a Sniper or a Scout.

Each class also carries a melee weapon:

Scout: Baseball Bat
Heavy: Fists
Engineer: Wrench (Also used to build)
Pyro: Fire Axe
Sniper: Machete
Soldier: E-tool
Demoman: Alcohol Bottle
Spy: Butterfly Knife
Medic: Bonesaw (has a high critical hit rate)

Re: Team Fortress 2

my character got trashed (the Pyro) haha, the Medic is a cool secondary I pick with his Bonesaw mega kills with him

the Pyro, burning things up well its a-ok something a little different from using guns, and in multiplayer the times that I had to put out my teammates flames, time after time... TF2 Ftw

I main Scout by the way, and Payload Race - Hightower is my all time favorite map. I'll be there

Re: Team Fortress 2

Lol seeing hats is funny cause The Orange Box on Xbox 360 comes with vanilla TF2

dude, I'll admit that I have alot of hats for each character, but everyone, I mean everyone who plays this game has at least one hat. There are so many freebee hats they practically give out like the gibus. And I'm actually starting to hate them each passing day cause most of them are just plain retarded when they add new ones.

and even with all the weapon updates, I still play Vanilla scout to this day. Standard shotgun, pisol, and metal bat feel the best for me.

Re: Team Fortress 2

Disclaimer: This may or may not have been against new, free to play players.

Racked up a 111 kill count using the sentry gun on Dustbowl's third stage. The alcove where RED spawns is a great place to drop a sentry down, as the buildings across the way create a natural choke point. The only way to bust through is with ubers and soldiers/demomen. Well, this team had no brains and tried to keep either scouting their way through, or as a heavy, standing in plain sight so that my teammates could kill them. It was pretty hilarious how bad this team was, and even though they did manage to cap the first point, no one had the bright idea of "Hey let's go spy cap the last point", instead choosing to focus all their attacks on me. We won that round after about 7 minutes of added time.

man, 3rd Dustbowl is one of my all time favorites. When I think of TF2, that part usually comes to mind. Even more so than 2fort. Although I play scout the most, I really don't find a use for him on 3rd Dustbowl. So I go to my second favorite class, Heavy. Defending as Heavy there is about as fun as it gets for me. If you got a smart team and some good medics, and the other team sucks, you can push them back to their spawn even after they capped the 1st point. It has happened many times with me before.

one time, we were occupying the first courtyard on 3rd dustbowl after the enemy already capped the 1st point. We had them stuck for about 15 minutes. Sentries all lined up in the courtyard, heavy/medics everywhere. We got so caught up with bullying them, that we failed to notice an enemy spy had slipped past us. The little weasel capped the last point with about 10 seconds left to go because all of our attention wasnt focused on defending the last point,
