Hi there y'all. My name is Mike, and I'm from Mississippi, but I live in Scotland, and have Scottish ancestry. Anyway, I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan. I pretty much grew up with the franchise, ever since the original Mortal Kombat came out, when I was about 9 years old. I used to play Street Fighter II when I got my first SNES console, but when I got to play Mortal Kombat, I became an instant fan, and never played SF that much again (no offense to those that still do, it's a good game). But I was disappointed when a friend of mine showed me his Genesis version with all the gore, but I didn't like the graphics too much, and that's when I gathered up a bunch of coins and would hang out at the arcade, sometimes skipping school and getting in trouble, but oh boy, was it worth it! Then when Mortal Kombat II came out, with all the gore and good stuff for the SNES, you simply couldn't get me away from my console! Me and my cousins would spend hours and hours playing the game. When MK Mythologies came out, I loved it, and still do, because I'm a Sub-Zero fan and I don't listen to bad reviews if I like a game myself, people have individual taste on things. First time I saw MKT, and Goro was playable, boy was I happy too! The game brought me a lot of good times and I'm glad to see it didn't die out.
Sadly, I haven't had a chance to play the new Mortal Kombat yet... I know, lame! But it ain't like I don't dream about it, or check it out on the Internet all the time about it. I'm fixin' to get me an XBox 360, even though that would kinda sacrifice Kratos. Although I haven't played it yet, I am a huge fan of the new game and how they went to the old beloved 2D fighting, with the 3D environment and feel to it, brought classic characters (and costumes) back, and the awesome fatalities and even test your might is back! Hell you can even test your sight. Love it, can't wait to play it and already jealous of everyone here that played it!
Going along with my stereotypical roots, I play banjo. What does that have to do with Mortal Kombat? Everything! I happen to be arranging Mortal Kombat tunes to be played on my instrument. Although it's very hard work to do so, with no help from anyone, and adding the fact that I just recently discovered the wonders of playing by ear, writing tablature and making my own arrangements, and also the fact that I am self-taught and have only been playing for a little over 3 years with no previous musical background, it's still one of the most fun and exciting things I ever done, because I grew up listening to those tunes while I played the game and know them all by heart, and I mean all of them! It just brings back memories. Little did I know when I was a kid that someday I would be playing those tunes on a freaking banjo, but there you have it!
I have a YouTube account with the same username as here, but I have no Mortal Kombat music videos there yet, just regular banjo stuff and other silly things. But I want to make them very elaborate and well, cool videos. For that I will need to save money to buy me a green screen, a better camera and a cool costume. I got it all planned. My intention is to not only play the tunes, but play them in the same place where they were played, for example, I would play the Living Forest theme in the actual Living Forest of MK2, and so forth. With a Sub-Zero costume! Ain't I a silly grown man? Lol

I also plan on painting my banjo head (the white skin-looking part) with the MK dragon logo for those videos. It's an exciting project, I'm eager to share, but again, I want it to be elaborate and memorable, not just picking tunes in the kitchen. So for now, I have uploaded the video of my first learned tune to an obscure Photobucket account, just to share with you folks, and get some feedback, since I presume most of y'all know the tunes and can tell me if they are loyal to the originals or not. Constructive criticism will be indeed more than welcome from fellow MK fans, it's all great help to hear your opinions. Just keep in mind that most of those MK tunes have several different instruments performing the all-important percussion, and that is hard, and sometimes downright impossible to arrange for one instrument. The tune I got now is the Mortal Kombat Choose Your Fighter theme, the first one (I have arranged the MK2 and MK3 as well, but they are very repetitive, so I need to add maybe more Choose Your Fighter tunes to play along, perhaps from the newer games), which is my favorite MK tune ever. I'm also learning the theme by the Immortals, Techno Syndrome, even though it's not a game tune, but more of a movie thing. It's popular nevertheless and I arranged it well for the banjo (nobody ever played on it that I know of, but several other instruments), just gotta learn it now.
With that in mind, question: where should I post the video here, like, what's the appropriate section of the forum to make a new thread with the video? General discussion, or would anyone recommend some other section? I don't wanna spam the website with my videos in innapropriate places, but I wanna share with as many of you as I can. Thank you very much, glad to be here. And sorry for the long introduction!
