<===== It even has the REAL version of Cobra Commander (silver face-plate and all), not that shitty "Rex" or "The Doctor" from the first movie.
Hopefully they aren't going with that stupid shit idea of Baroness being Cobra Commander's sister either.
I was SOOOOOOOOO pissed when that first movie came out, especially at how much they f***ed up Cobra Commander's origin and story.
Cobra Commander NEVER served with Duke or had REAL beef with him.
His real problem was with Snake Eyes.
I know that they threw Duke in there because he has popularity from the animated series, but that story in the first movie just felt like it was shoe-horned in.
His name or his childhood were never revealed in his origins (No, it wasn't Rex).
The Baroness was never his sister.
And last but not least, he was never a f***ing scientist.
His vengeance started out with Snake Eyes in the original comics.
Snake Eyes' family was going to pick him up at the airport, but on the way to the airport Cobra Commander's brother (Dan, who had been drunk driving) crashes into the family and gets killed.
Cobra Commander vowed to get revenge on Snake Eyes, for the pain that his family had caused him, and sent Zartan (the guy who is shown shape-shifting into the President in the trailer) to kill him.
Before he donned the infamous Cobra hood, Cobra Commander was a used car salesman with a failing business, and after the death of his brother he began to build up a group of individuals to revolt against the government and big businessmen, claiming that they didn't care enough about the average person with a small business.
He began wearing the Cobra hood, and began finding people who agreed with his views, and with the money that he made from different con scams, he began his vengeance on the government and big businesses.
He even started killing government officials in small 3rd world countries, taking over, and setting up criminal networks in order to gain connections in the black-market and illegal arms trades.
After he started building up this criminal network around the world and his own militia (Cobra), Cobra Commander became paranoid and would have anyone that he sensed being a traitor to be executed.
It was because of this that he became one of the most evil and ruthless super-villains of all time.

That should be put into a movie.
A Cobra Commander ORIGINS movie needs to be done, in order to introduce him properly into the other movies.
Hell, I should seriously write that shit up and send it in to Hollywood, and see if they'll let me go with it.
I can GUARANTEE that Cobra Commander fans with be proud with what I can do with a script written by a Cobra Commander fan, for Cobra Commander fans.
As much as I disliked the first movie, this was probably the best line in the movie.
"YOU WILL CALL ME "COMMANDER."

I've never been much of a G.I. Joe fan at all, but this movie looks like a lot of fun. I loved the fact that they killed off the original cast, they were the main reasons I hated the first G.I. Joe movie (one of the most boring movies I've ever seen in my lifetime). And anything with Bruce Willis= kickass, so definitely can't wait to see this.
Paramount really shouldn't have pushed this back to 2013 though, it killed a good chunk of the hype I first had for this movie. Especially considering the fact that they only moved it to convert it to 3D. I hate 3D with a passion lol, especially the god-awful post-production 3D that most movies have now.

Yes, in the original comics he was.
The GI Joe animated series started out when he was already a Black Market arms dealer, and building up Cobra, but at one point in time he was a normal person like everyone else.
He's had a lot of shit happen to him, in the past, that developed his character into the Cobra Commander that we all know and love today, and the 1st movie didn't hit on any of that.
They didn't move it back to convert it to 3D.
That was a bullshit excuse that they fed to the public, to cover their @$$es.
What actually happened was that in the first 10 minutes of the movie, when the Joes get hit with that air-strike (which is shown in the trailers), Duke died.
The death of Duke got a shitty reception by critics and reviewers (because Duke is the poster-boy for the animated series), so they had to got back and re-shoot all those parts with Duke in it.

3D was not the reason though.
It takes about 3 or 4 months for post-production 3D conversion, not 9.

The first movie was the type of movie where I enjoy watching it in the theatre ONCE because it's loud and exciting.
I don't think I could ever watch it again.
This one looks a ton better. Just a few things, though:
- I wish they put Destro in it. That would be so fcking awesome if he had a big role with The Baroness and Cobra Commander. I haven't seen the first one since the week it came out but I don't remember him dying in it. Either way, to have all three of them with big roles would be awesome as balls.
-Casting some other guy as Sgt. Slaughter instead of....Sgt. Slaughter. The last time he was on wrestling, he had a bit of an old man's gut, but, otherwise, he still looked like the same old Slaughter, and he WRESTLED, so it isn't like he can't handle an action movie, let alone one where he probably wouldn't have a big part in it. They should have just had him get a little more fit and cast him....
-I can smell it from a mile away: The Rock is going to be cheesy as fck. I just can't take a lot of his movie roles seriously. I don't know if it's just because of his wrestling background so I am used to 'that side' of the Rock, but, damn, I just don't think I can watch his scenes without feeling gay.
-I hope they don't continue making up random bullshit stories. Stick to the comics, plz.

You're correct.
Destro didn't die at the end of the first movie.
Cobra Commander turns James McCullen into Destro and there is a shot of the Cobra submarine as it drives away.
I love when the Rock does the WWE stuff, because he IS one of the main components of the Attitude Era, but yeah, I can't f***ing STAND the Rock as an actor.
1 of the many good things that I see about this film is that Bruce Willis is in it.
I haven't seen many movies where Bruce Willis is terrible in a role, and seeing as he plays the John McClane role VERY well, I'm hyped.

That doesn't count.
The Gi Joe animated movie contradicted ALL of Cobra Commander's origins, as well as the DiC cartoon that came out afterwards.
It's either 1980s cartoon, the comics or GTFO!!!
That's like me saying that the true Ninja Turtles are the current version.
Everyone knows that it's either the black & white ruthless Ninja Turtles from the comics or the Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady version.
Every other version is bullshit.

I was going from pure memory.
In my memory, that GI Joe animated movie is about as terrible as the first live action GI Joe movie, which also sucked.

Clearly I said it doesn't count, just like the first GI Joe movie doesn't count, due to being something that was terribly changed up in LATER movies, and completely horrible.
When I said that Cobra Commander was never a scientist, I was referring to his origins, meaning when he was FIRST introduced.
In the comics and original cartoons (when Cobra Commander was first introduced), he was NEVER a scientist.
Cobra Commander's WHOLE origin story was changed up and f***ed up in that animated movie and in the last live-action GI Joe movie.
That's a bad comparison because in all Batman comics and animated series his parents dying is the 1 universal truth that help him become Batman.
As far as Cobra Commander goes, they f***ed up his whole origin story and changed it in the animated film and the 2009 Rise Of Cobra movie, and vastly strayed away from Cobra Commander's TRUE origins.
2 COMPLETELY different things.
Even in TDK movie Trilogy, Bruce Wayne's parents are dead.

I have no problem looking geeky, because I know that I'm right.
I know Cobra Commander's origins and read all the comics, and that animated film has nothing to do with his origins and how he came to be "Cobra Commander" as we know him.
You're just trying to prove me wrong by taking my words and twisting them to suit your point.
