New Female Character Named "Blue"

Just an hour ago, a beautiful actress named Tracy Spiridakos tweeted

@tracyspiridakos My character is new to the #mortalkombat world her name is Blue!

I followed her and found that she has indeed finished filming her character for the webseries.

I have a hard time believing that a character named "Blue" would be in this webseries if this character isn't in Mortal Kombat 2011... Another new female character other than the lady in Red? Maybe the red is a strategic palette swap on NRS' part, and she will be blue in the real game?

Thoughts?!
 
More than likely a DLC character down the line, after seeing what the reaction to her will be from the webseries she is apart of.

If you read many of Boon's interviews, he clearly states that he and NRS team have never considered MK2011 to be a reboot or re-imagining and that these terms were created by the press... They have seen this title as a way to bring new technologies to fan favorites and elaborating/altering upon these favorites' stories while also bringing new things to the table.

I highly doubt "Blue" will take a spot on the initial roster. I also don't believe the initial roster is glued to 26, like many of you insist!

And, I extra doubt this is an April Fool's bit... Why would a real actress play pawn to NRS' jokes? Did you fart out this thought?

Aren't you a fan of Sheeva? I am also a fan.. Can't wait to see what NRS has done with her :)

Neither does Reptile or Scorpion or Sub-Zero, when you really think about it; they first two are non-linear descriptions and the third is a vague term you'd find in an emo kid's gamertag, when taken out of the context of the series.

That said, Blue is a bland name.
 
I will admit. Blue does sound bland! If they insisted on the color, they should have named her Azule.. That is much prettier phonetically and aesthetically.

Blue might not even be the character's full name. And if this character does appear in MK9... Hopefully it's fun to play. I'm all for introducing some new characters via DLC.

She's probably some irrelevant side character. Kinda like Art was in the first Mortal Kombat movie.

She'll probably die a horrible death.
 
Probably has no barring on the games. When adapting things to film or video, you have to add characters, especially if you're only focusing on certain parts of the game's cast. You have to set up context and drama with the game characters, and usually the game's canon doesn't provide enough. Not that there aren't enough characters, but that there aren't enough unimportant characters to play minor roles. Look at Art Lee from the movie. His role could have been easily filled by Johnny, but few would have been satisfied by seeing Johnny killed before the end of the film. And we don't see Art in the games.

If I had to guess, she's probably a ninja, considering how most of the ninjas are named. But not like an awesome, bad ass ninja. A ninja who'll probably be like "Hey Sub-Zero. Cool shirt." and then she dies. And Sonya will yell "NOOOOOOO!" even though she never met her. (I re-watched the MK movie last night. Heh.)
