Mortal Kombat Officially Rated M by the ESRB

It wasn't a surprise, as the recent promotional videos from the game had a M Rating shown before them, but <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/">Mortal Kombat (2011)</a> has finally <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=30816">officially received a M for Mature rating</a> by the <b>ESRB</b>. The rating description included below doesn't reveal anything new, other than the game may contain an F-bomb or during game play. We're personally betting that takes place when Fatalities are occurring and not story mode.

This is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one battles against characters from the fantasy-based Mortal Kombat universe. Players compete in a series of combative rounds in order to advance to different matches throughout the game. Players use swords, guns, chains, spikes, and supernatural attacks (e.g., fire, ice, lightning) to defeat a cast of human-like characters. After an opponent is defeated at the end of a match, players have the option to perform finishing moves called 'Fatalities.' Many of these finishing moves depict over-the-top instances of violence: impalement, bone-crushing body snaps, execution-style gunshots to the head; large blood-splatter effects occur during these sequences, staining characters' bodies and the ground. Several of these exaggerated finishing moves depict characters getting dismembered, ripped or sliced in half, stabbed, set on fire, or set to explode. During the course of the game, female characters sometimes wear revealing outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage; one female fighter is depicted partially nude, covered by a costume of thin cloth strips. Language such as 'f**k' occasionally appears in the dialogue.

Sounds good to us, only 37 more days until we get our hands on <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/">Mortal Kombat (2011)</a>, so don't forget to <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=pd2w*IOD4qM&subid=&offerid=121938.1&type=10&tmpid=7050&RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamestop.com%2Fgs%2Flanding%2Fmortal-kombat%2F">pre-order and secure your bonus outfits</a> before it's too late!

Haha, I love the fact that MK was one of the games that actually contributed to the creation of the ESRB and their finding news ways to get a rise out of them. Talk about nostalgia.

LOL, omg I cant wait to see the F-Bomb being dropped in Story Mode. Without revealing any spoilers, can people who read the story mode tell us who exactly says it?

An F-bomb in story mode, really?

Sub-Zero: You killed my brother! I will avenge his death!

Scorpion: Dude, **** you, he killed me first.

I havent read the entire file myself Taj (i dont want to spoil the story) but i ran a search for the word "f***" and it's other versions but nothing came up! So either they re-wrote the script or the info from the demo really *is* outdated :o

So I guess the rumors of
Spoiler:
Mileena's flesh pit costume having her completely naked are false. It sounds like they are describing her spaghetti strap outfit from I think deception. Shame, I thought the prize would be SORT of worth it, but not so much now.

I just checked the spoiler stuff, and there are no F-bombs in the story mode script. I may be during fatalities that it's talking about.

Sorry but f-bombs in an MK game = stupid.

I wouldnt call it stupid because it actually fits some characters. Unneeded, yes, because MK can certainly do without it, they have been for almost 20 years now. If they swear during fights, then I would classify it as stupid. Hopefully its just story mode cutscenes that contains it.

It would fit Kano or Jax, I feel. Unless it's used exclusively in something like Scorpion's fatality. (Get the f*** over here!)

i swore i heard him say "****.
I'm good " in the demo once..

too bad about the M RATING...i was hoping for AO LOL

I am very surprised that only one other person pointed out that

Spoiler:
it sounds like the ESRB inadvertently revealed details of the secret Flesh Pit costume!
