Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Yeah, I work on it on a large scale and sometimes show it extra large, unfortunately you loose a bit of those tiny "holes" in the texture of the black cloth when bringing it down to scale. He's actually larger in the select screen portrait than the vertical ending so it shows up a tiny bit better there, but not by much. You should see the texture in all its glory in the horizontal ending, though. :)

Whoever is working on the actual typing of the stories needs to fix a typo in Sub-Zero's ending. Where it says "paid a large some of money..." it should read "paid a large sum of money..."

I'm not sure if I showed you but I replaced the Buddah statue with a high res version I grabbed from my neighbor's garden. He has almost the exactly same one. I'll repost this level once I get the new photos in.
Yeah you did and it's great, it's like 90% accurate to the original one.
Someone later posted small pic of the exact same one used in the game,
so I was trying to find that one in bigger resolution but with no success.

Lol, nice catch. Yeah, that should be fixed. "Large some of money" doesn't make any sense.

EDIT:
I know this project is not about this, but recently I found out some stuff that never made
it to the MK1 but were intended. This is from the interview with John Tobias:

Can you share with us how the idea for fatalities came about in the first place during the development of the game?

Tobias: I remember it starting with a finishing move for Shang Tsung. We had him pull his sword out to cut off the player character’s head if he lost. I believe we taped and processed the art, but I don’t recall whether Ed ever got that working in game. I know that the characters’ reaction to that, where they slump to their knees and fall forward, came from the Shang Tsung fatality. I believe we used those frames to put together the first fatality, which was Johnny Cage punching off his opponent’s head.

And here's what he's talking about:

Part of the unused sprites form MK1, discovered by Fly of MUGEN community.
First ever fatality that never came to be.

Preview of the Hell pillar, it's not really textured. I just did a quick paintover in Photoshop.

I'll go over the model and blend the parts together in the future. Have the rock growing over the skulls a little, etc.

^Nice, so this is a full 3D model? I believe they used just one (maybe two) pillars and shot if from different sides.
Maybe you could try that and see how it works. Can't wait to see it finished.

Looking sick! If that ends up fully 3D like you are intending, that will be awesome.

@calactyte you forgot to change the statue on the far left.

also is there anyway to better blend the bases of the guard statues with the ground, it doesn't look quite right.

Woopse good catch FoDeah.

@Tiago: Of course man. Remember if it happens in the original it will happen our version.

lol, im such an idiot by asking it...Well people, we are just close to the point, i think this is a 50 or maybe a 40% of overall in this project :D :D
Well can anybody post every made stage for us to see and try to find any error? Thanks people :D

No way man. If I do that, I'll get 1000 comments to move this, shift that, change the color here and there. That will kill my motivation. It'll become like work. When we are 75% complete I'll post stuff. Then everyone can rip that to shreds. I'll make an art list of fixes I'm willing to make. One by one I'll complete them until the game is 100%.

@Interloko: How is the programming coming along? Have you finished the Fighter Ladder?

I like your initiative, i see you are doing this for fun...Its so good because funny things will improve your capacity in something, well thought calactyte

Nice changes on the Palace Gates. Love the new statues, and Buddha is looking good.
Hope calactyte won't freak out but there are few things I wanted to point out a long time ago.
I'm not really that good with Photoshop but here are a few things that's been bugging me about
Palace Gates:

What I think should be corrected to closer resemble the original:

My attempt:
(download photo from here, image sharing sites don't allow huge resolutions)
http://www.adrive.com/public/w8wFPr/PALACE_GATES_HD_corrected.jpg

-Changed Buddha and walls next to his knees color to better fit in
with the rest of the walls, statues
-Moved Gate statues closer to the original position
-Moved torches a bit (to the center of the wall they're on)
-Made central path much wider like in the original
(it also fixes perspective problem with path in relation
to the Gate on the right, and stone blocks in the left corner of the stage)
-Made walls that connect to corner flaming pillars higher

Just my 2 cents.

Im nobody, just a fan of this project so my opinion doesn't mean that much... but I agree with his changes
