Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I'm gonna have to fix a lot of the animations though, it doesn't transition as smooth as Scorpion. All the animations need to start and end in Sub Zero's stance for it to look right, or you'll see him snap.

You can't see him snap so much in the old games because there were less sprites. You become used to the missing frames and it's hard to notice the mistakes.

Yeah, it's going to take some effort. I can make him play in the meantime with Scorpion's animations, but over time they have to be replaced.

Mmm... you know what? I think this is a perfect challenge for you, because I can smell from far you don't want to do it. If I am right, you should just put yourself a dead line and fix all of the animations as fast as you can, even if you are sick of the ninja and you want to work on Cage or do a drawing or whatever.

This exercise of discipline should help you a lot, you know, just in case you don't get to work at Netherrealm Studios and end working in something you dont like or hate... I mean, even when people do things they like, there is always something we want to avoid and that's fine for a hobby but not for a professional.

So, what do you say? it's up to you, just know a lot of us are not just looking at the game but also at you, following your progress and backing up your efforts and results, which have been notorious so far.

Bleed you nailed it the first time. The turned hand looks weird to me. There is always going to be external pressure to do it "cooler" than the original. Just remember no one can argue with being as accurate to the original as possible. So I leave it to you to decide. I personally think the rotated wrist isn't accurate. Just my opinion. Where some people are vocal about how Sub stance was "cheesy" I totally disagree. In fact I think it looked cool. Accuracy to the original, cheesiness and all has been the mantra of this project. Like when I tried to add blood and dirt to goro, people were not happy because it deviated too far from the orignal

In my opinion the character is great and that is not 100% like the original is nothing when you consider all the work that these people go to give us something the original game creators wanted to give us. I can only say great job fellows.

I agree with calactyte, there is nothing wrong with sub-zeros MK1 stance, it looks great to me. I liked it MUCH better without the hand rotated, it looks a lot sleeker when viewing the 2 versions side by side. I think the best bet is to keep the character animations like the original, it'll make things easier and less complicated.

No animation have been 100% accurate, keep that in mind... I think MK1 Sub-Zero's stand is the worst stand animation in the whole saga, eitherway it's up to you guys, like usual.

Edit: What I mean is that unintentionally, each animation that have been created is slighty different than the sprites and that is something unavoidable. What Bleed attempted here was an INTENTIONAL slight change to improve the animation. Eitherway it's not going to be 100% like the original, it will only "resemble" the original, so that's where suggestions went, to "direct" a few slight twists to make the stand look better; if you see, the whole movement on that stance is different (and better) than the original, we were only suggesting Bleed to do something about the idiotic possition of the hand, and I don't think it's great now, but the way it is, it looks a little bit better than the original... I don't know, I guess it all goes to each one point of view.

Everything about Sub looks great now except the hand, I like the original non-tilted hand better, whether or not it was "cheesy."

If you fix the hand I think we should all except it and consider it final.

It's good to check either way, but I like how it looks straight better also, I'll go with this as the final.

I'll make another animation today, the ice blast.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! When we started this project a little over a year ago, I was out of work, my wife was pregnant and I was feeling sorry for myself. Then I found this project. It kept me from obsessing over my lack of employment and really enhanced my portfolio. In fact this "passion project" helped me get chosen over other candidates even though it is a different line of work than Creative Direction in the marketing/advertising realm.

So thank you all for your time, commitment and passion!

Same here, this project is helping me reach a higher level. I see improvements in quality, focus and speed, so I'm very happy with that. The energy from others is a great motivator, that pressure and feed back really helps.

You guys know that , I'm watching you  don't give up even for a moment. Going well, maybe not in this pace what we all want and we might have expected, but no one expected to be easily and quickly ;)

I never thought Sub-Zero's MK1 stance looked goofy at all. At least it gives him a sense of individuality. Like Scorpion you recognize the stance as his own. I found that a lot of fighting stances later in the series started to look the same. The fighting stance should be unique to a specific character if at all possible.

This final render of Sub-Zero that bleed did looks great.
