Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Is that Daniel Persiana or Carlos head in the ending screen? Didn't you start Johnny Cage's face? Wanna drop that zBrush sculpt up in Dropbox. I can finish off his face for the ending if you'd like.

His Left forearm bone needs to be twisted, in the sprite you can see the straps on both arms.

You can twist the wrist and forearm bones separately.

It was Daniel Pesina.

The head and body aren't done. The costume is hiding most of the messed up areas, so I didn't bother fixing it.

The torso got all warped, because I started changing the shape after it was skinned. Cage is going to have a different body.

If you want to use the head as is, you can hide the mask with an extra edit poly modifier. Just select the parts you don't want and delete them.

The skin is partially hidden, so you'll need to select it and mess with the stacked edit poly modifiers to show what you want. Delete the extra edit poly modifiers, and add a clean one. Now you just have to delete the polygons inside the eye sockets, so they don't cover the eye balls.

It's going to need some heavy editing in Photoshop to look nice. When I get to Cage I'll make a better model and it can be used instead.

Ok I've put the .max file back up in Dropbox _Cal_Edits at the end of it. Maybe you can quickly fix it and re-render. I can't figure out how to display the wrist guards..they only appear when I move the characters arms..then the disappear again. I've turned everything on and unhid all so I'm leaving it to you Bleed. Not sure what's going on.

Looks like it's not going to work like I thought, what you can do is copy the arm guards, and collapse the mesh. Then just edit them in to the right pose using the regular modeling tools. The Brush, FFD, Soft select, etc... Doesn't matter because it's a still pose, just shape them how they need to be.

edit: Never mind, I'll do it.

Flames and a little light bleed on his right?

Not sure about a skull yet, I will continue trying but may need a 3D render in the end.

Gaurds.obj is in Drop box now, same place you put the other file Cal. You'll need to delete the old guards, and import the new ones. Put the "plastics" Material on them, or it's called something like that.

That's cool, but I can't get the guards to show at all... I've unhid everything..I guess I'll select the body and go into Poly editing mode and see if I can find it as an element..

Figured it out...Render incoming

Ok that did the trick Bleed. Thank you. Rerendering and then I'll pass off a new render to you MrMos3s

Sounds good to me.

ok final render here.

That scorpion character model puts the one from MK9 to shame imo..

I love Mortal Kombat 9 so I won't say anything too negative about the series, but as an old school fan I never quite understood why they made the characters look so cartoon like. Even the latest game, as cool as it is, I think people would have loved if the characters looked hyper-realistic like Bleed's Scorpion model. It seemed as time went on the idea of realism (which they captured in the original) became a thing of the past. I think they lost the spirit of the original games a bit with it. It was kind of like fighting with action figures instead of people. Maybe this remake will help influence how they make MK 10.

My thoughts exactly,i felt while MK9 had fluid animations and well done gore the characters went up to snuff.Fat teeth, poor hair and cloth physics, over purported and exaggerated body's,freddy is a cool addition tho:)..

Give me high quality models that are true to the orignal, let me see players getting exhausted spitting blood, let me see actual mo caped moves along with combos with a focus on realism. How people would move but maybe a little speed up to accommodate game play.I also think the stile and stance switch is cool but my idea is this.Lets have the fighters come out looking bad ass and snarling and shit with that LA Noir face tech, when hes worked over he can have a worried look about him and be forced to switch to a more defensive looking stance with a weaker looking move set,and when close to death their staring gasping for air garbing their chest pleading for their life and so on..Making the fatality that much more dramatic. Also if we cant interact with the 2.5D backgrounds anyway really why not shoot some actual movie quality 1080p footage of a grimy back ally or build a real life goros lair and edit things in them.Like reptile on a moon lit roof top or bums passing a bottle around or goro running through the background crunching skeletons or something.

The visuals im thinking about and things i describe may come with next gen hardware who knows((I hope)) It could happen now on pc but i think ill be holding my breath till i die before that wet dream becomes a reality.

I felt like i was witnessing something revolutionary when i saw the game at the arcade.Sure i was a kid,but there are games that give me that tingly feeling still, and when i play mk9 im just entertained not marveling at any attention to detail. Its like i dont mind it but im not thinking about it when im not doing it..

But im thinking im gonna relive the glory days if we ever get a chance to play this remake..

Earlier there was a discussion about how P2 has a frame advantage. Why was that? Does anyone know?

Also another detail I've noticed is that the names in the lifebars on the P2 side don't go all the way to the end of the life bar. You can see it in any screen shot of MK1 that P1's name starts at the very beginning of the lifebar on the left, while P2's name doesn't go all the way to the right of the lifebar.

At least for some characters it seems.

edit: not that this is an important thing, but just an observation.
