Hsu Hao had a terrible story, but was a great idea. He was the pseudo Jax, the only man who could match his strength.
Although, Tremor could definitely take his place, as a Black Dragon of course.
If that were to be the case I'm pretty sure I wouldnt even bother playing MK10
I'm not to sure I could get used a game starring Jarek and the other rejects

Fleshed out with detailed stories, given unique abilities.
You have to remember, the 3d MK's were rushed, they didn't have enough time to properly make these kombatants likable.
They are interesting, but I'm sick of them. Don't get me wrong Scorpion and Sub Zero are badass, but they're EVERYWHERE. They're even on the cover and the game's not about just them.
They are absolutely necessary.
I know this has been said too many times already, but Sub & Scorp are to MK as Ken & Ryu are to SF.
SF would lose 75% of its casual audience if they booted them, same with MK I'd imagine.
Yes, they really do but the OGs of the 2D kombo need to stay. Maybe not all of the, but just the ones everyone loved to most.
I was thinking when I was playing MKD, Kobra has a nice story. He's a dude from the streets that knows how to kick box and killed his master. That's a good story dude and that's only a piece of his story. The only thing bad about Kobra, is that he reminds me of that Ken from Steet Fighter.
The only thing bad about Kobra is his lack of story and special moves.
He shoots fireballs and teleports.
