In <b>Midway's</b> <a href="http://seekingalpha.com/article/68157-midway-games-inc-q4-2007-earnings-call-transcript?source=homepage_transcripts_sidebar">Q4 2007 conference call</a> to investors, <b>David Zucker</b> - <b>CEO</b> of <b>Midway Games</b> - reiterated that plans are still on track to release a <b>Mortal Kombat</b> title for <b>next-generation</b> consoles, <b>Xbox 360</b> and <b>PLAYSTATION 3</b>, in <b>2008</b>. <b>Zucker</b> also mentioned a bit of information that <b>Mortal Kombat</b> fans have been waiting very patiently for. This <b>April</b>, the first details of the next <b>Mortal Kombat</b> game will be revealed at <b>Midway's Gamers Day</b> event on <b>April 17th</b> in <b>Las Vegas</b>.
And then later in the year, we expect to launch the next generation debut of our perennial top selling franchise Mortal Kombat. The Mortal Kombat franchise has sold over 7 million units during the PS2 console cycle and we will be unveiling details on the next iteration at our Gamers Day event in mid April.
Coincidentally, the personal website - <a href="http://www.noob.com">Noob.com</a> - of <b>Mortal Kombat</b> series co-creator, <b>Ed Boon</b>, has been updated with a countdown timer to <b>Midway's Gamers Day</b> event. Suffice it to say, <b>April 17th, 2008</b> should be marked on every <b>Mortal Kombat</b> fan's calendar as the "re-imaging" of a 15 year franchise is revealed to the public.

What to expect from the reveal of <b>"Mortal Kombat 8"</b> this <b>April</b>? Previously <b>Boon</b> <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/10607/gears_of_war_inspires_nextgeneration_mortal_kombat.html">went on record</a> to say that "It’s going to be nothing like you’ve ever seen before." Inspired by the art direction of <a href="http://www.gearsofwarrealm.com">Gears of War</a>, <b>Boon</b> looks to create a "gritty" and "very dark, serious Mortal Kombat" that the game is "reinventing everything from the ground up."

Back in <b>September</b> <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/11082/rumor_mill_next_mortal_kombat_to_be_a_versus_title.html">rumors sprouted up</a> regarding <b>"Mortal Kombat 8"</b> being a <b>'versus'</b> title along with another well-established intellectual property. So far no new information on this rumor has presented itself to us; however, signs still point to that possibility and soon we shall find out if our tipster was on the money.

Keep with us as we continue to follow the developments of the next iteration of the <b>Mortal Kombat</b> franchise and remember to check back in <b>April</b> for the big reveal at <b>Midway's Gamers Day</b> event.

<b>Update on 3/20/2008 by Patrick McCarron</b> - There seems to be a slight update to the counter site now, brought to our attention by Forums member Tim Static. At first what appeared be a visitor counter, now may appear to be some code: 23<font color="red">8</font>,<font color="red">8</font>6<font color="red">8</font>.

What does the code mean? Could it point to a future release date of 8/8/08? Or just referring to the year 2008? I guess we'll know more in less than a month! Stay tuned!

<b>Update on 3/28/2008 by Patrick McCarron</b> - Ed has gone and made more updates this week. The website now shows a set of mysterious eyes under the words ANSWERS along with a series of animal pictures and numbers along the bottom edge of the animals.

You can decode the animal's common names to spell out RAGE and for the numbers under the pictures replaced with that letter in the alphabet it becomes FREE and KLOSE. What does it all mean? Stay tuned, I'm guessing the ANSWERS are very KLOSE. ;)

Noob.com

Does anyone know if Ed still owns this domain? Nothing there but Noob.com in bold print on a black page. Used to be great when he'd update it with info and bs (Zebron? WTF?).

Re: Noob.com

Hmmm... no idea. Kinda seems like there'd be something there if he still did. I'll tell ya' this, though, I'll never forget MK Trilogy: Nitro Edition.

Re: Noob.com

Well I will say that previous times that I went to the site in recent times there was nothing there but a prompt for Ed to log in and update his page. Maybe we will get info soon. Or maybe it's just a tease or nothing. But thank you fuzzy for getting that info.

Three dots top left hand of screen, Boon tends to hide links on these things so I'll keep watch.

Re: Noob.com

You gotta figure Boon did that knowing full well we'd all look at it, gasp and go "oh my god, what does it mean?!". Sadistic bastard.

So umm... what does it mean?!

Re: Noob.com

I'll hazard 2 guesses.
1. Ed Boon is a sadistic bastard.
2. Earthrealm will need to be defended in Mortal Kombat.

Re: Noob.com

I'm going with option #3. Boon is immeasurably bored and decided to update his site on a whim...and he's a sadistic bastard.

Re: Noob.com

what the hell is that guy up to...it makes me wonder if it's Boon doing this. I mean, the WHOIS info says exactly what's posted above...but is that up to date?

Re: Noob.com

The Midway Gamer's Days are in April sometime, it might have something to do with that. Maybe we'll hear about MK vs. DC then.

A crossover game sounds more like a desperate plea than a re-invention. If it happens I am concerned.

I was starting to think we'd never get any info. I'll be on the net all day come the 17th of april, that's fo'sho
