Some info about the Venom movie has detailed. From hollywood.com:

While promoting Spider-Man, Arad and Tolmach alluded that their next project, Venom would be developed in a similar fashion that could potentially tie the films together. "What I'm trying to say to you without giving anything away is hopefully all these worlds will live together in peace someday," hinted Tolmach. Venom , which Chronicle director Josh Trank is rumored to helm, will follow Eddie Brock, a character previously introduced in Spider-Man 3. Don't expect any carryover, as Venom will be following Amazing Spider-Man's modern, realistic approach.

"It's an Eddie Brock story," explained Arad. "We want to be as close to the comics as possible. Especially in Eddie Brock's story. But again, pseudo-sceince is becoming science. All these tidbits about webs, artificial webs, is a huge industry now. Spiderwebs have unique qualities that will be huge for communications, fibers, and so forth. So we have taken the approach that we want to make the huge amazing movie about Eddie." Commitment to reality and tangibility is a key factor to Amazing Spider-Man. From Arad's description, the scientific slant will be a point of interest in Venom.

Tolmach and Arad insisted their Eddie Brock, who was drawn in early incarnations as a muscled man, would be more grounded. "He was a journalist. He had the wrong story, he got in trouble for it, he got fired," explains Tolmach, who also went on to describe his and Arad's approach to adapting Marvel properties. "The whole essence to us for the Marvel characters. Stay close to the bible, stay close to the emotional story, and the rest is fun."

It'll be interesting to see how all this "science" will affect Venom's portrayal on the big screen. I'll update this thread when more info/news is released about the Venom movie.

No.
No, no, no, no, no.

Take this movie, and burn it with fire.
For the following reason

They're going to make Venom another goddamned scrawny pussy.

I wouldn't mind if Brock himself is scrawny at first, but once he becomes Venom he better become a hulking brute like he is supposed to be.

It could go either way really.
Like when the Symbiote attaches to Spider-Man or Eddie in the third movie it keeps their shape. Maybe Venom was always buff because Brock was usually portrayed as a large man. Meaning that he could stay scrawny as Venom. But on the other side, in Ultimate Spider-Man the game (which features Venom's most built figure) Eddie was the same size as Peter. So I guess we'll have to see. I still think they'll go for a scrawny Venom since they aim for a more 'realistic' feel.

I suppose. But I've always preferred Venom to be big, It made him seem more primal, and intimidating. Scrawny Venom looks just weird.

Exactly.
Puny Venom just looks like one of Venom's Symbiote slaves.
Making Venom scrawny is like making Hawkeye buff.

They already did in Spider-Man 3, lol.

I like to pretend that movie doesn't exist, just like Annihilation.

Haha we all do. I feel like they most likely learned from that mistake and will do him justice with this movie. Plus it actually has a good director. Chronicle had minor flaws but overall was a great, story driven movie. Always think of it this way as I do with spiderman 3 and annihilation, at least they can't do worse....

I could see them going this route more.
Amazing Spiderman already has some Ultimate stuff in it by the looks of the trailers, and if the Venom movie is meant to coincide with this version, it makes complete sense to make Eddie Brock (the reporter) normal size and have him buffed up as Venom.
Scrawny Venom is dumb.

PLEASE! Eddie Brock has to be really buff! Due to his hatred for Spiderman, he begins to take his anger out on lifting! Makes sense huh.

THe symbiotic just makes Brock bigger and stronger, why can't a movie portray that!
