Idea for past Kombat tournament game

I've had this idea for a while now. I think it would be interesting if NetherRealm put together a prequel Mortal Kombat tournament. The tournament could take place approximately 500 years ago and feature Great Kung Lao, Goro, Shang Tsung and a lot of new characters. Were any other known characters around 500 years ago? What elements could tie into the later games in the franchise?

There's nine mortal kombats before mk one. I see no problem in new ideas.

Interesting! Ya know.. When they were originally talking about making a "dark and gritty" MK after they made MK:Armageddon -- I kinda thought it'd end up being a prequel. Awesome idea. It'd be cool to start at the first one Earthrealm lost.
