Hanzo Hasashi stood, waiting.
He could hear the dying yelps of the Monks in the temple getting closer.
As a Shirai Ryu, he had been hired to guard the sacred Map of Elements from attackers, and that he would.
What he assumed to be a body thumped into the floor above him, unsettling a cloud of dust from the ceiling. He swallowed hard.
The reason he had been chosen is because he was a relatively new recruit, it was only his second year of service to the Shirai Ryu. It was for this reason that the Shaolin hired him, he was the best they could afford.
He walked over to the Map of Elements, hovering over the altar, and slowly passed his hand under and over it, as if to locate any hidden wires keeping int aloft. A large thud hit the door, and Hanzo spun round, immediately on his guard. A cold trickle of sweat ran down his face.
The door was bent inward, the metal bindings buckled and the wood splintered. Then it slowly swung open, and a fine mist filtered in, clinging to the floor. Hanzo was cold now, shivering. The blue figure stepped in, his eyes fixed solely on the Map.
"Stay away from me, Lin Kuei" he said, holding back a stutter. "You know all too well that I could kill you without even thinking about it..."
A white film developed across the floor of the room, stopping just short of Hanzo's feet. Motionless and silent, the blue figure glided towards him.
"Give me the Map of Elements."
Hanzo raised his fists.
"Now..." said the blue ninja.
Hanzo swung his fist hard, but the blue ninja parried lightning-fast, and swung his heel up into hanzo's chin, following with a right hook to his cheek. He collapsed to the floor. The blue ninja strode over to him, and as he tried to get up, swung a kick right into his ribs. Hanzo flew into the altar. He removed his mouthpiece and spat think red blood onto the floor, and then looked at the Lin Kuei.
"Please..." he begged "I have no part in this, I was hired to protect this M..." He was struck again, a back-hand punch to the jaw this time. His vision was fading. The Lin Kuei grasped the back of his neck and lifted him. An unbearably cold chill coursed through his body. He was turned to face the Lin Kuei warrior, to look into his crystalline blue eyes.
"Please..." he choked. "Spare me..."
The blue warrior placed his free hand on the top of Hanzo's head.
The last thing Hanzo saw was his own body dropping to the floor 3 metres away, then he blacked out.
Sub-Zero walked over to the altar and collected the Map. He saw something move on the floor, and spun round. A small scorpion was perched on the face of the Shirai Ryu's severed head, watching him. He walked over to it, raised his foot, and stamped.
