Correct guide to fighting secret characters?

Is there any guide out there that says the correct way to access the secret classic characters you fight? I know Smoke is just hitting down and select when u see him in the Forest. And I know Jade is double flawless and fatality with Shang. What about Noob and Reptile? I've read a few different guides and they all say different things. Some say just hit select at certain time some say need flawless victories.
 
dont block in the match in the ladder when u see noob in the background of the area instead of the old chanter.

double flawless and pit fatality when u see a santa or a with flying by the moon on the pit stage for reptile.
