I'm seriously looking for a challenge! No one around here at WVU knows how to play, they're all into their own halo or call of duty crap games that I never got into. It was always the 2-D Mortal Kombat for me (as well as any mario game). So I'm about to get xbox live and I seriously would like to fight some challengers and I can only probably find challengers on this site. Let me know and give me your xbox live name. Lets get this going!

you could have played me but...........as of FEB 2010 UMK3 is officially off of xbox live due to license agreements and sh*t. I traded in my ps3 (like an idiot) for an xbox just for umk3, and after trying to get online for 2 days...on and off the phone with verizon i went to download it and POOF!!!! it was gone. Still isn't back either

The XBLA version is ass. Control latency GALORE. Seriously, it's horrible compared to the arcade version, so just get MAME and you're good.

I agree with Eks, the MAME version of UMK3 is just one word: perfect. Found little to no bugs, a little bit of sound issues but who gives a shit about that, no lagging, no graphics problems, etc. Just grab a simple USB gamepad for your computer, configure the buttons to your liking and you are set! Btw, for those who dont know, MAME is both for PCs and Macs. I wouldnt have said that, but due to the increasing popularity of Macs, and the fact that i own one, i thought i shouldve mentioned that to the other Mac owners who may be on this thread :).

Its been a long while since I played mku3 online... I've been hooked on SSF4... I hope MK9 focus more on the game play mechanics.

I know about the lagging problem with the XBOX version but I somehow just got used to it although it bothers me sometimes. I never tried the MAME version because I cant find a working MAME rom for it! Everytime I download it, MAME never reads it. I downloaded the MAME rom from almost every website google can find that offers it. If someone has a decent working UMK3 MAME rom, please upload it for me to download then I will see the difference because its been a while since I played the actual arcade version and I think the XBOX version to me is the best one so far.

Thats the page of a working UMK3 ROM, just click on the Download FTP link, and save the file in your MAME ROMs folder, and enjoy :)!

Alright, overall I think the XBOX version is better except for the lagging part but it has better graphics and gameplay than the MAME version. I found the MAME version much more like the home console version, I dont know why, I just wasnt feeling it.

Mame, while the best not involving a jamma board, is far from perfect. Sit down and play Mame, then play on a cab, (or visa versa) and you'll see its night and day different.

I REALLY wanna play on a cab, but I don't know of anywhere that has one near me. After going from the XBL version to the MAME version, I can't even play the XBL version, but I'm wondering what the major differences between the real thing and MAME are.

I know someone who is looking for an MKII machine to get his rocks off, too. We need to get some sort of locater ap going, sorta like the McRib locater. Would kick much ass.

Its the speed of the game, for the most part. No emulator can reproduce it. I've played tons of different versions of mame, other emulators, all the ports and nothing plays like the cab does.

can you play UMK3 on PS3 online?? and since its been removed from xbox does that mean even if you had the game before they removed it you can no longer play it?
