Again, sales on PC don't account for the majority when it comes to WB games, and given WB's terrible reputation for their ports on PC, I can see why. I was never negating that it sold horribly on PC, given its issues.
Unless you can guarantee / prove that the NPD was bought off, though, this all just comes off as a conspiracy theory, and that's what I take issue with.
Yeah, I could see it dying out on PC due to the issues, but on the 2 top selling consoles (X1 and PS4) it still seems to be doing well.
The MKX sales numbers also came from the NPD at the time, no?
Until we have reports to the contrary that the NPD is fudging numbers, though, it's just that: a theory.
Without any proof it's all just speculation.
So, yeah, I'll still respectfully disagree, but until there's concrete proof (especially in this day in age of people making up their own news / reality), it does come off as just that: a theory.
I'd be 100% agreeing with you if there was solid proof, much like how I was appalled at the terrible work ethics / "crunch" going on at NRS during the time of MK9 thru Injustice 2.
I feel like video games movies (in general) have let me down so many times in the past, that with the stuff going on with this one I'm just like "Well, I hope it will be good."
So basically you said, what I said already. It is a theory. But a theory supported by proper observation and a lot of things not matching together. So in this case it is a simple impasse. You can't prove that numbers haven't been changed, due current rampant corruption in gaming industry (entertainment industry overall) and I can't prove it that they are lying/altered numbers. That's it.
As for MKX sales NPD. Yeah. Fair point. But here is the thing. You can adjust numbers, when they don't match your expectations or if it doesn't meet your certain agenda. Mortal Kombat X was released in April 7 of 2015. A year before what it is considered as an official start of the SJW era. I mean MKX was already a soft entry into SJW waters, with pandering with diversity and bringing up relationships. But it all really started with Injustice 2, when it was leaked that artists were forced to censor the female character gear items (with some of them to this day having a blatant paint over, to hide cleavage for some reason). Past 2016, we had multiple movies and games pushing in political correct values, which led to criticism and lowered sales as people didn't like their things twisted, being told what is right and wrong or how to think. So companies began adjusting platforms and numbers to hide the fact that SJW pandering causes more loss and damage, than profits.
Example 1. Infamous Gillete commercials which virtue signaled, by stereotyping males and painting them in negative light. That resulted in video receiving a high amount of negative comments and dislikes. Gillete began deleting negative reviews and Youtube began altering dislike number. When that failed, dislikes and comments were disabled. Gillete lost 8 billion dollars, and while CEO tried to shake that off as "worth it", they immediately abandoned virtue signaling as Gillete's profits spiraled even further down. Now they are covering "Local Heroes"
Example 2. Captain Marvel. Actress Brie Larson insulted a number of fans, stating that movie is not for them based on their skin color and gender. Movie also received negative reviews for being less then average. Numerous pictures portrayed empty cinema halls. Disney reportedly bought out multiple cinema halls to falsely inflate numbers. Rotten Tomatoes also altered their system to help Captain Marvel fight negative feedback. At the end the movie reported to have earned a whooping 1 billion dollars. Execs at Marvel/Disney and their SJW announced a victory. Weeks later thanks to Insider turns out that Disney has inflated multiple movie profit numbers. Some of them were inflated by billions. Captain Marvel also doesn't have a sequel announced, despite claims that it was a success. Latest Insider info from Disney reported that Captain Marvel is being abandoned/has no faith from execs.
This kind of behavior was seen in MK11.
Game gets announced close to a release date. No proper hype building. First female characters get revealed and some of the fans are displeased by censorship. Even so it remains an echo room issue. That is until Art Director in NRS announces that they have no regrets with disappointing their fans and they are going for more "mature and respectful" approach. That starts the fires. That devolves to NRS devs telling who are the real fans or not.
Launch date. Numerous people can't play properly due most of the game being locked behind Online mode. Server issues. PC gets screwed over. First two weeks issues on all platforms. Krypt, micro transactions, terrible story mode reception. Steam and Metacritic reviews tank. People show disgust for forced political agenda. Game goes on multiple sales during the period of two months alone. WB reports huge success. Claim that game had the biggest launch and has been the most profitable game in NRS history, despite controversy, server issues and backlash for Krypt and another set of lies.
Later it is found out that NRS has been treating their own contractors like sub humans. NRS launched an investigation on NRS. To this day, we don't know what was the conclusion of that investigation.
In the meantime MKX rode on a pure hype train. No controversies, no insults from devs, nobody being fookin retarded. We had arguments in this forum, but nobody was split on MK being amazing. All forums were busy with excitement. Everyone HERE was excited for it. Chop Suey commercial (the one with people running in the street) was met with applause. We spent insane amount of hours just guessing whose shoe belonged to who. And you want to tell me that MK11 had anything close to that shit? Yah, sure. First game to split fanbase like that. Literally friends jumping on friends. One side loves it, another side hates its guts and you had SJW running around fueling the fires. So yeah. MKX and MK11 were completely two different reactions.
