Never thought in a million years I'd get Mortal Kombat 2 Johnny Cage with Mortal Kombat 3 Sonya, but damn it, it happened! Thanks to Danny and Kerri for being so awesome (and Kano (Rich Divizio) for snapping the picture!)

I'll be writing about some of the experiences I had last night, some fun little tidbits of info I found.
I'll post it here later when I finish.

For now, some rope darts in the streets of Chicago!

- The level of competition was high at the tournaments!
Moe30W, Divine, 16-Bit, and McLovin', were all at the
highest level of play, Plenty MKII Mileena Vs. Jax,
and UMK3 Kabal-H.Smoke-Ermac mathces. Oh yeah and some
Kitana, haha. Just truly epic players! Relauncers,
glitch jabs, Stryker and Kung Lao infinites,
some real underground arcade tournament action.
The best of the best.

- I also got to meet TRMK members Johnny_Cage (again)
and RIPLiuKang. Both really awesome people that
that just make you feel good to be around them.
They also made me feel glad to be a TRMK member.
Thanx guys!

- I asked Steve Beran if there is any chance that we
will see a 3rd Kung Lao in MKX. His response was
"OH! I wish I could say something!" and smiled.
When I later asked John Vogel his eyes got as large as
silver dollars and he replied "You know I can't
say anything, haha!"

- I asked John Vogel what the new ality in MKX was.
He said that he couldn't say, but some fans have
suggested its maybe a Reality. Which leads me to
believe its most likely not a "Reality" then.

- I Got to speak with Lia Montelongo a bit, and I got
to share with her that during her original scheduled
appearance on the On Blast Show with JamessMK and
DarkNatas that she missed, I was actually supposed to
go after her and promote MK MUGEN, but I had to fill
in for her in her absence (The OBS #13). She appeared
next week on episode #14 and I told her that it was
my favorite episode of the webcast. She laughed and
said "Yeah, thankfully those guys took the video down"
I had no idea that her skype interview was removed.
I won't go into detail here why she wanted it deleted
or why its my favorite episode. Either way I guess its
"The Missing OBS Episode"

- I noticed everything was being filmed by VGEVO.
No one mentioned them, why they were there, or where
to find any of the film that they shot. Does anyone
have any info on these guys?

- In the arcade flyer for Mortal Kombat 1, it shows
Kano and Raiden reaching out of an arcade cabinet
and scaring two little kids. I learned that it is
actually Rich Divisio as Kano and Sal Divita as
Raiden in the shot. Not Carlos Pesina, I learned this
when carlos sent a fan to Sal to get the flyer signed
since "Thats Sal in the photo, not me (Carlos)"

- I got to check out the super ultra rare, one of a kind,
prototype, unreleased, Primal Rage II. My review is,
"Meh. Feels like Sega Saturn. LOL"

- I got a chance to chat with Anthony Marquez's son
about his involvement in not only the Motion Capture
for MK9's Kung Lao, but his filming of, and the ultimate
demise of the unreleased MKHD game. And his future with
Netherrealm Studios. Here is some info he shared with me.

- The MKHD game was finished. All the characters had
been filmed.
- The filming was EXTRA grueling to make sure all the
animations painstakingly matched the old ones.
- The finished engine was still released as MK Arcade
Kollection with the old graphics laid on top of the
new engine.
- And most shockingly, the game was NOT cancelled
becuase of quality, but because of "politics".
confused I said, "the fans were told that the
game was going to suck, so it was cancelled."
He told me "NO, the game was finished, and it was
good, but SOMEONE stopped it."
- He also told me that he hasn't been involved with
MKX at all.

Well, this concludes my TRMK forum member report from
the GGA STFN4. I hope someone finds this stuff interesting.
Later, friends.

- Draxxon

Great info! I too had some great conversations from the night.

I shook Brian Glynn's massive hand, and told him he was hard to beat in Mortal Kombat 2 and 3. He laughed and said: "Art doesn't always imitate reality." PFF, yeah right! Dude looks like he hangs out with John Parrish regularly haha! Great guy though.

I also ran into John Vogel with Tom. I joked with John a bit and we recalled the last time years ago him and myself and other MK team members had lunch in Chicago. He had a hard time remembering at first but then warmed up after kind of remembering me a bit more. He was there with his wife and two children, his youngest only months old. He jokingly said "You can see that's my latest babality". Haha! Great guy!

The room was hot as the netherrealm. Believe it. Those actors were troopers in the heat!

Had some great conversations with everyone, met some new friends and old ones alike, and had a lot of fun. Danny and Carlos ended up coming out and totally going all out for the picture above. Dan and I caught up and had great conversation about his new school in Palatine, IL. He seems to be very constrained with time running multiple schools around the area, but great to see business is thriving for him!

Also saw Steve Beran and had a fantastic conversation with Jennifer Hedrick (Carlos Pesina's wife and character model artist for MKX). Really talked a lot about her work on previous games, and discovered her first ever game that she worked on was actually the Street Fighter THE MOVIE fighting game. Cool! I got to talk to her about her work on NFL BLITZ, NBA Hangtime and other fun games. She was a wealth of knowledge and was just really inspiring to talk to.

Rick O'Meara also dropped in (animation for MKX) and caught up with me. Great friend and good guy. We were all having a great time!

John Parrish was also a great inspiration. I talked with him about his morning routine. WOW. I mean, this guy kicks his ass every morning. Not sure how he does it, but his energy level is truly inspirational.

Sal Divita is one of the nicest and sincere people you will ever get to meet. He came off arm surgery and seems to be doing better. He is consulting for another game now and had a great conversation with me and Gus and Eric about how to get your foot in the door in the business. Gave sound advice and was just a fun person to hang out with. I wish him a speedy recovery and enjoyed seeing them all together. The event was a once in a lifetime event, it probably won't be re-created to this magnitude ever again. Blessed I got to share it with all of the great folks here on TRMK, and look forward to moving up closer to Chicago so I can see you dudes more regularly!

one small final tidbit I remember was Steve Beran telling Johnny_Cage that he was actually the monk in MKII. I'm guessing he means the shadow priest?
