In The Dark

How did we go from that to this
From queens to nappy haired
Is it cause the wound can't get a stitch

Change

Why is it that I'm scared of my race
A fearful monster with a black face
Trying to bring me down to a slower pace
Transforming me into a non ace

Change

When did we turn on each other
What happened to be sisters and brothers
Like calves we all drank from the same utter

Change

That was lovely. Thought provoking. You are an amazing poet!

“No Man Is An Island” by John Donne.
It is one of my fav poems, where John Donne explores the idea of the connectedness of people. People are not isolated islands. We are all a part of a larger thing, and if one person dies, everyone is affected. Although this poem does not have a strong rhyme scheme, it is short and easy to memorize.

Also I like “If You Forget Me” by Pablo Neruda
"But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine."
