Dark Kahn Revealed in John Tobias Video Profile

Today IGN posted up an <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/853443/mortal-kombat-next-gen/videos/MK_DC_John_Tobias_101308.html">interesting video</a> profiling <b>John Tobias</b> creating the <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/">Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe</a> <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=pd2w*IOD4qM&offerid=121938.125401&type=2&subid=3">Kollector's Edition</a> comic. In it they talk about how John came back in to work with the MK team for the first time since <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/635/confirmed_midway_mk_team_departures_.html">his departure in 1999</a>. John also discusses how drawing the characters again came so naturally, since he also drew comics for the first two arcade games in the series along with many pieces of concept art that was the foundation of the series.

The interesting element to the video is that the first ever pictures of the game's end boss, <b>Dark Kahn</b> are unveiled, and quite a bit at that. This is the first the public has seen of him since <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/11932/entire_mk_vs_dcu_roster_revealed_by_achievements.html">news of him broke</a> a month ago. Dark Kahn looks... different than I thought he would. At a distance he doesn't really look like either Darkseid or Shao Kahn. Something different altogether. Cool.
 
Alright guys, this is my sign off post until the 16th. I know youll all miss me. I dont want to see any of Kahn, Darkseid, or anything else for that matter until the game is out. I want to be surprised for once.

Tim both are in the game, but the end boss is both combined. Powers of each combined into a new purely evil creature.
 
I think he just dislikes the idea of them combining, make one be the big bad guy. But as I said a while ago that causes one fanbase to go "boo our guy is more deserving!" and I doubt they wanted that. But idealistic disbelief aside HE LOOKS AWESOME! He's got a skull face with fire in his innards...man I don't know what to think of him but he does look amazing.
 
Liu Kang and Batman are a much more suitable parallel.

In one of the interviews, Boon drew comparisons between Baraka and Flash. Anyone care to explain that one?

Yeah, its the whole combined thing.

My idea would be this:

1. Alternate them, a la Deadly Alliance.

or

2. Make it an endurance match.

Darksiiiiide (haha) is a bad ass character, as is Shaoo Kahn. BUT, combined is retarded.

I hate the idea that they are playable as well.

All this, is of course, IMO. ;)
 
Liu Kang's Bicycle Kick looks just as ( if not more ) beastly as always! I can't wait to fight against Dark Kahn, I wonder what his specials will be... Omega hammer, anyone!?
 
OMG that would be an awesome attack! Omega Effect combined with Kahn's various rush attacks would be badass as well. Just think, he uses his Omega Effect to zap himself behind you and ram you with a shoulder rush it would be great!
 
He actually resembles Doomsday more than Darkseid. Interesting though. I'm looking forward to the comic almost as much as the game.
 
I don't think he looks too much like Doomsday. I think the skull face is clearly taken from Shao Kahn. Doomsday has wierd spikes growing all over him and all I see here are a couple shoulder spikes. But I'll say what I said to my friend on AIM yesterday:

Why should we expect a merging of those two entities to resemble either of them? Kahn only looks the way he does because of his outfit, not anything genetic. And Darkseid's only real distinguishing feature is his rock-like face and skin. What really makes these two unique is their brutish strength and individual superpowers. When those two beings merge, they likely wouldn't look like a mishmashed copy and paste of the two, why would that be? Instead I think the logic they went for here is that these are two fantastically powerful beings and so the merger of the two incorporates Kahn's mutant-looking face with Darkseid's rocky one and had his body just bursting at the seams with energy. Energy from the power that merged the realms, energy from the two beings individually, and a new power that comes from those two great powers coming together.
 
It's been said for a LONG time (ever since that leak) that Robin and Powergirl are in the game. At the time we all assumed they were playable, but it seems that info might still be correct, just we drew the wrong conclusions.

Oh! You guys... I swear I'll kill someone on this forum so I can steal their PS3/X-Box 360 from them and play this game, when the release date comes.

Curse my bro buying a Wii just for Smash Bros Brawl... T_T'
 
Tobias never ceases to amaze me, easily one of the BEST artists within the vid and comic book industry, period.

Can't wait to read it and play this game!

Dark Kahn BTW=looks incredibly badass!
