"Superman Returns"

With the exception of the excellent Iron Man, none of Marvel's movies came close to either Batman Begins or TDK in my opinion (Spiderman 1&2 were okay at best, but the third was atrocious). Being too faithful won't work that well on the big screen, especially that the movies need to make money to keep the franchises going.

The only problem is taking Nolan's approach in tone, and not in essence. Batman is a dark character, Superman is not so making a dark movie won't sit well. Warner execs want to take it that route though, after TDK's success (it's pretty close to a billion in gross to date).

Warner has made plenty of questionable moves before... the "fond" memories of Schumacher's Batman movies still linger within.
