<b>April Fools</b> Sorry but unfortunately this wasn't a real product, but to read more about the hard work we put into it <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/11406/trmk_behind_the_story_april_fools_2008.html">check out our post April Fools day recap.</a>

<b>Mortal Kombat</b> co-creator <b>Ed Boon</b> updated his personal website, <a href="http://www.noob.com">noob.com</a> with a variety of things. But most importantly, the coded message of TOUCH seems to carry a little more weight than everything else on the site. We investigated the TOUCH word with our sources and unearthed a shocking revelation. <b>Midway</b> is working on bringing the <b>Mortal Kombat</b> universe to <b>Apple's iPhone / iPod Touch</b> platform. <b>Apple</b> recently <a href="http://gizmodo.com/364727/apple-reveals-iphone-sdk">announced plans</a> to allow developers to create their own native applications for the <b>iPhone / iPod Touch</b> and several game companies, including <b>EA</b> and <b>Sega</b>, are developing games for the powerful platform. We asked our sources about the TOUCH message on <b>Boon's</b> website and revealed to us that indeed <b>Midway</b> is also going to capitalize on the booming <b>iPhone</b> install base.

Since the message was already leaked by <b>Boon</b> on his website, our source was able to provide us this exclusive video of a prototype build of <b>Mortal Kombat Touch</b>.

<center><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.trmk.org/embed/swfobject.js"></script> <div id="playerMKT"><a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">Get the Flash Player</a> to see this player.</div> <script type="text/javascript">var so = new SWFObject('http://www.trmk.org/embed/mediaplayer.swf','mpl','320','240','8'); so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always'); so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true'); so.addVariable('height','240'); so.addVariable('width','320'); so.addVariable('displayheight',240); so.addVariable('file','http://www.trmk.org/video/mkt_proto_leak.flv'); so.addVariable('image','http://www.trmk.org/games/mktouch/IconOnIPod.jpg'); so.addVariable('backcolor','0x0000BB'); so.addVariable('frontcolor','0x00FF00'); so.addVariable('lightcolor','0xFFFF00'); so.addVariable('screencolor','0x222222'); so.addVariable('searchbar','false'); so.write('playerMKT');</script><a href="http://www.trmk.org/video/mkt_proto_leak.mp4">View video encoded for iPhone/iPod Touch (.mp4)</a></center>
As you can see, the game uses the <b>iPhone's</b> tilt sensing capability to move your character around the screen. Along the perimeter of the screen are the attack buttons and touching anywhere but in the corners is the block button. While the video clip features the <b>Dead Pool</b> stage and <b>Kitana</b> from <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mk2/">Mortal Kombat 2</a> the opponent is <b>Kabal</b> from <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/umk3/">MK3/UMK3</a>. This could mean that we could see a version of <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mkt/">Mortal Kombat Trilogy</a> being ported over to the <b>iPhone</b>.

While this is quite the revelation, this doesn't have anything to do with the <b>"Mortal Kombat 8"</b>, the next-generation re-visioning of the <b>Mortal Kombat</b> franchise. In a few more weeks on <b>April 17</b> all will be revealed at <b>Midway's Gamers Day</b> in <b>Las Vegas</b>. In the meantime, check out a better screenshot of the game's launch icon on the <b>iPhone's</b> springboard on our temporary <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mktouch/">Mortal Kombat Touch GameRealm</b>.

Yeah we got more info on this because of the words TOUCH on his page when we started to ask around. Not sure how they all tie together, but it's quite interesting.

Oh okay... here's just a theory or something... but those animals... does anyone recall who had those as their animalities? Maybe those are the characters either being killed off or coming back.

EDIT: There're four animals there... a Rhino, an Ardvark, a Gorilla, and an Elephant. Those letters spell out RAGE... my honest opinion is perhaps this "Rage" is a sort of new thing being introduced into the games...

EDIT EDIT: THe eyes mean I see.... I see Rage... but it was found on another site already, dag nabit.

At first I thought this was a joke, but it seems legit now.
Good job on the research Jeff and Patrick!

This actually looks very cool. I don't know how they will do jumps and fatalities, but using the sides of the screen as buttons (lupper eftside up as HP, lower leftside as LP, middle as block etc) is very interesting and might actually work.

The video shows MK2 Kitana (my favorite version of Kitana) versus MK3 Kabal. I don't think there ever wsa a MK Trilogy where this was possible. MKT only used UMK3 Kitana if I recall correctly. So that is very confusing. Are they actually making a Ultimate MK Trilogy (with all 2d versions of all characters ever)?

Elaborate Hoax. Pre-recorded video using Mugen. SHENANIGANS. Never believe anything you hear on April Fools day NO MATTER HOW IT LOOKS.

Well, the aardvark/anteater I think was Noob, Reptile was the monkey, Rain was the elephant and... was it Kabal that was the skeleton of a rhino?

I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that this has something to do with those characters, though.

I doubt this will be a exact port of any other MK game. But I imagine this one will be a spin-off with 10-12 characters, and hopefully the gameplay will be as genius as the idea. Lets hope. ;)

Agreed. I dont think these clues really tell us anything.....yet. I think were a couple clues away from this maing sense. (remember touch is for the MK Touch for Iphone & touch iPod.

Agreed. Title of thread changed to April Fools! Elaborate yes, but not as good as the trailer of the new Zelda movie...

Actually it was not a complete hoax, it's a working application on the platform that I developed. No mugen video or anything similar. I'll post more later today about how I did it.
