Mk 1 TV GAME

Has anyone played the MK 1 plug-n-play game that hooks right into your TV. My wife picked it up for me for like $7 and I really like it. The graphics are pretty close, with just a few background animations removed. I like it better than the Snes, Genesis and PC versions.

Well the best ones are the arcade MAME emulations of MK1.

Actually TRMK reviewed this a while back, with mostly positive comments. The controls were great, but the graphics and sound were a little lacking. Nothing too severe that it wasn't recommended though, and that was at a $20 price. $7 would be a great deal, and worth any MK fans time.

Actually, the 2 best versions of MK1 are the PCB Rv 5.0 and MK1 Prototype.

where can i find some photos or video from this version?

An excellent buy.

My mother (who hates my mature games) actually picked this up for me one day.

I almost fainted but anyway it is well worth the buy whether you're going to play it or you just collect MK stuff.

That's a review by our very own Jeff Greeson. There are several screen shots, but it looks like the videos are down now.

I have these (in fact I just found the second unit that had the two player link cable deal), and it's pretty neat to play. The best way I would describe it would be an upgrade from the 16 bit version, but not quite something nearing arcade quality. The best part is the controller being an arcade style button layout, which is always nice instead of dealing with a SNES or Genesis controller that really wasn't made with MK in mind.

Plus it's pretty easy on batteries. You'd think something like that would really suck them down, but it doesn't. I remember they only sold for around $20 when first released, and I always see them in used game stores around here for $10 or less. I would say it's a no brainer for anyone who's in to MK. The tricky part would be finding one that has the link cable, since I'd wager most kids who'd play it would lose it in seconds unless you wrap it around one of the controllers when not in use.
